Hi, I'm Martin Shervington, and I'd like to show you how to make a post on
Google Plus.
One of the most simple ways to get going with this is drag and drop and image
straight
into the box that says ‘share what's new’.
This will automatically upload and as you can see, this Is a picture of Benjy here.
Then I can write some text like “This is Benjy”.
And we're ready to send that out. It is that simple.
So as I scroll down, and it says add names, circles or email addresses.
I just need to explain what this means.
If I send out to ‘public’,
which is what I will do
it means that anyone can find it.
If I send out to ‘circles’, it means that people I put in circles
will be able to see it.
If however I put it out to ‘extended circles’ it means that people who also in
their circles can see it.
Now, I know this may be a little confusing if you are only just beginning.
Don't worry for the moment.
Simply put it out to public if you're happy for everyone to see the content.
Now to share it, let's go ‘share’. There we go.
We've done our first post.
Let's now take a quick look at an alternative way to make a post.
if you click on the icon here,
and you put ‘add photos’
and you
find something from your computer. I'm looking for an image of the Welsh
Hill. There we go.
And you double click it, that'll put it into the post as well.
Now, alternatively let's say that you want to send this. Let's set the setting to ‘public’.
You just want to send it to an ‘Email address’. All you have to do is just drop
the email address into the box.
And you can also, if you know people already on Google Plus, you can include their
names and you can send
notifications to them.
And also if you've already started to build up your circles,
then you can send it to specifics circle. And this will all be a
limited post which simply means that it's not open to public. It's only open to
the people that you sent it to.
Let's just return to the post that we sent out to public.
If somebody asks you to send them the link for a particular post,
you can find that by hovering over and clicking
the little arrow button here.
And as I scroll down you see there are several options.
Just so you know you can edit the post. You can delete it.
You can ‘disable comments’ which means that nobody can comment on it, or you can
‘lock the post’
which means that nobody can share it.
But for now, let's just have a look at link to this post. If I click that,
it comes up with the link.
All I then need to do his copy and paste that in the usual way
and I can give that to somebody.
Very simple indeed.
I hope you found that useful. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel for a lot more handy
hints, tips and tricks.
Many thanks.
