Hi there! We're at the tuning press days.
We wanted something comfortable and calm, although it's also a bit rough of course...
...since this is a tuning day
We're in a BMW 7-series, but it's not an ordinary one...
...but an AC Schnitzer one, the ACS7 4.0i.
That's a whole mouthful, it essentially means it's based on a BMW 740i...
...and as you all know since you're huge BMW fans, it doesn't have a 4-litre engine...
...but a 3-litre bi-turbo.
They've given it a performance upgrade of course but we'll get back to that later.
Lets firstly look at the exterior.
It's hard to tune the 7-series and make it sporty cos it doesn't really fit the car's character.
But still they've done some small things, like giving it a little front spoiler.
If you watch closely you see two different kinds of wheels.
On the left, the old model. And on the right nice open ones that are very big...
...22 inch, so they're only available for the 7-series, the X5, X6 and their M-versions.
AC Schintzer are really proud that the wheel is relatively light...
...the front wheel weighs about 29 lbs whereas normal 22" wheels weigh about 42 lbs.
Of course the suspension is adjustable...
...with the sport plus setting it becomes stiffer and there's also a comfort setting.
You'd think it would be a lot harder with those 22" wheels and lowered suspension...
...not really though, it's still comfortable but just a bit tighter.
The interior is pretty much as standard, but there are nice AC Schnitzer floor mats...
...you can get those at your local dealer.
There are aluminium pedals, but the most important thing is of course...
...the iDrive controller shaped like AC Schnitzer's new wheel.
That's great of course, I gave my mother one for mothersday...
...and she's also put it in her BMW.
I didn't like it that much on the pictures but now I've really seen it I think it's quite funny.
It's really camp, you couldn't do this in 15 years...
...but if you do it right now it is slightly tastful.
I promised to get back to the performance upgrade.
As standard the 740i has 326 hp and AC Schnitzer gets that up to 360.
That's not a huge leap forwards but BMW engines aren't that easy to tune.
But it's just a bit sharper and sporty. I asked for the performance info...
...but they don't have those yet so we'll just have to assume it's fast enough.
Do you want one? If you want the whole lot it'll set you back about 22 grand.
Only the performance upgrade costs about 6000 euros.
On the one hand it's a lot of money, but on the other it falls right in between the 740 and the 750...
...so you'll have a 745-ish.
The wheels are also quite expensive, they're 22 inch and have big tyres, that's very pricey.
7.500 euros.
But they're quite nice, then you've got something to show your neighbours.
