Isn't it amazing what kind of stuff one can
find in their garden? Like for example a dino egg,
who'd have expected that? And it seems to contain an
adult Brachiosaur - well, at least a tiny adult Brachiosaur.
Pretty handy the dino who laid this egg wrote on its shell what to expect inside.
He even added tools to make it easier to excavate his
petrified spawn from the egg. Marvellous!
Guess who made it? Simba of course, they really make a lot these days.
Well, let's excavate, shall we? Where's my knife?
Here it is!
Nifty as he was, the dino wrapped the egg in plastic, amazing!
How do I open this?
Good Lord ...
Maybe they should have added tools for that as well ...
Oh boy ...
Yeah, that was certainly harder than expected but here we are.
A brush.
Some kind of chisel.
And ...
The grey matter ...
in which a dinosaur is supposed to be hidden. It's also wrapped in plastic
so its contents keep fresh.
Looks like it's some kind of rather crumbly cement, great.
What does the dinosaur who laid this egg want
to tell us about it?
A xeroxed sheet of paper saying "Art & Fun", and that's mostly it.
"Danger of suffocation, small parts which can be swallowed." Yeah, whatever.
Right!
Not really all that interesting. Let's get to
cracking this egg. Question is, how will we do that?
Well great, this could take bloody ages.
Eh ... this must be some kind of joke. I guess we'll need
bigger tools as this won't work at all. One moment please!
Where did I put the damn hammer again?
Maybe children are less impatient than me, but
this hammer should fix it.
Oh great, this doesn't help much either.
What the hell is this made of?!
Aha!
Look, a dinosaur!
Let me zoom in a little ...
so you can actually see something.
As any real archeologist we'll use
excessive force.
Nothing else really does the job. Now, let's use the
brush to get the last bits of pulverized bone
parts out of it.
This is all very exciting!
I can hardly wait!
Wonderful, there he is!
A rather skeletonized Brachiosaur.
And the entire table is covered in dust!
It's all crumbled cement.
Marvellous. The dino itself is made from rubber so you
can't really break it even when hitting it with a hammer.
At least this part is well thought of.
But it's all so dirty and dusty it really isn't
all that enjoyable, my entire table is a mess now.
But then of course, real archeologists sometimes
have to dig in the dirt too
to excavate their stuff.
So I guess the kids should do that too, and why not? All in all
this is not really what I expected it to be, but I don't
really know what I should have expected. After all it's made by
Simba - about anything Simba makes is disappointing to me.
But at least now we know how to excavate a dinosaur:
using a hammer and a screwdriver!
See you next time!
