Hi, I'm Terry and today we're going to defeat
the new kevo lock. This lock is
in my opinion is still seriously flawed because it uses the SmartKey to
lock itself in there so the key way is this SmartKey lock
I've heard all sort of industry news that this is new and improved
and I shouldn't be able to defeat it with my dumb key force tool
As we know the grade 1 or the grade 2
SmartKey locks, the SmartKey
lock has been defeated in seconds by the
dumb key force tool. The keynote is supposed to be new and improved. Let's see.
So today we're going to
defeat the kevo lock.
So here's the kevo. Locks, unlocks.
So I've just got to apply pressure
and we're going to... look at that it's turning
its unlocking the door. Perfect. So the tool works.
K, good. What happened?
Tore the face right off of it.
so the lcok just disintegrates. It's like a sacrificial front
So this is like 10 pounds...
Like six pounds of torque and it fell apart
The lock is just disintegrating so
there is sign of forced entry. The tool works
but we've destroyed the lock
Compared to the other smart key locks, the non-kevos, the non-kevos
it just opens the lock with no damage
This lock, it must be a safety feature they've done, the lock just disintegrates
so yeah, you know, there's definitely sign of entry
but the thing just falls apart, it's got plastic in there,
it's got really, really soft metal. This is like just absolutely terrible
I could probably try a screwdriver would do the same thing
so very very poorly made
Okay so we've got to keep a lock, I am totally shocked
how this lock just disintegrated. The plug
five foot pounds of torque if that, the face if it fell off,
plastic bits and pieces came out. The lock
was totally defeated.I took my time on it because I was shocked at how
badly it fell apart. This lock is not recommended
for your residential security. For $250 to $300
forget it. It just opens up way, way, way too easy.
