Hey Pat McLaughlin here from Snare Drum TV dot com and in this quick video I’m going
to show you what a flam accent is.
So a flam accent is basically an accented triplet. Alright, so if we have an accented
triplet off of the right hand, we would have an accented right hand followed by a left
hand tap, and a right hand tap. So we’d have right left right.
If we have an accented triplet off of the left hand, we would have an accented left
hand followed by a right hand tap and a left hand tap.
Now, what we’re going to do to make those flam accents is we’re going to put flams
on the accents, or, on the first note of the triplet.
So, we would have this: playing flam accents off of the right hand.
Or flam accents off the left hand.
Off the right hand again, and then off the left hand.
Okay? So that’s what a flam accent is. I’m going to go ahead and play some flam accents
for you. I’m going to start slow, gradually speed up, and then slow back down again.
