Oh! Hi! I know you? What are you looking like that?
Oh my working tools! So I will introduce them!
At the same time, I think I'm here for it...
I present to you the Grease Gun M3A1 from ARES first version and the Grease Gun from S&T. We will see that there are some small differences between the two, it may be able to help you when you make your choice, as they are both still marketed.
First a little background: the first version was released in 1942 and began to be used in Europe. It was intended to replace the thompson, which was too expensive and time consuming to produce.
Very expansive and long to manufacture with wooden parts. Here we have here only the stamped steel (and the mechanism inside anyway).
The stock rods were bent and welded to be able to bear it. It has slots for 3 positions: Removed, rolled and folded to make it more compact. The diameter of the grip is the original diameter of the barrel. In the original version, it was used as cleaning rod, and small tool used here to reload magazines.
The first version was called Grease Gun M3 with a smaller ejection and a cocking lever. The only brand which manufactures is ICS. Maybe I will make you a video one day, I don't know yet.
The next version is the M3A1 has a greater ejection, which allowed to easily ***, because yes, the cocking lever is this part.
Here, the bolt is now cocked.
Another particularity is a safety like that. This system has been replicated on both airsoft guns. Here, there is absolutely nothing going on, while there, it will fire... If I had the battery! There is an other safety when you open the bolt. So when you adjust the hop-up, which is located here in the window, the gun can't shoot.
In contrast on the GG S&T, we have a safety cover, the bolt can not remain in the open position. There is no blockage.
Small drawback: If you accompany the return of the bolt with the finger, it'll disrupt the hop-up. After if you are motivated, you can reduce the size of the bump the lever to fix the problem.
As you can see, I have both weathered. Black paint that wiped immediately with a cloth, then applied silver paint with dry brushing technic on the edges. This make it look used. I forced a little for this, but it is voluntary.
GG ARES has an average power of 320 fps. While the S&T has an average power of 355 fps, and it goes between 345 and 370 fps => you will have put a spring in SP90.
This requires disassembly, but it is not difficult when you know how to do. This will take some time though. First remove the magazine, then unscrew the external barrel. Removing the parts inside the external barrel. Take a screwdriver to remove the slide here. It has two screws and two pins below. It has a screw on that level which will secure the upper part of the lower part of the gearbox. Do not forget to remove the little pin that holds the trigger and...
When you remove the small lever, you remove the trigger with, this is normal. Then you can finally remove the block from the bottom of the gearbox, which is just clipped (it is a little hard to come) And finally you will reach the rest by the front of the GG.
At the rear there is the motor which is at an angle, and at the front, the entire spring, spring guide, piston, piston head, etc.. After just removing the engine: 3 screws, so it is not hard, and remove the rear spring so that the spring guide, so you don't need to remove the rest.
For weight, the ARES is 3.370 kg while the S&T is 3.250 kg. Slight difference due to the fact that the battery for the ARES is contained in the charger.
This is what has made the most controversy at the time of the release of this beast: a magazine cost already $30, so I'll let you do the calculation of the total cost when you buy 6 magazines with 6 batteries.
Advantage: you'll never battery problem in game, but disadvantages: it will have one week to charge everything, and then you have strips that make contact here and they wear out quickly. It will then disassemble the magazine for twisting the slats.
In contrast, the GG S&T has classical hi-cap, as you can hear. They are cheap but are much more fragile (they twist easily).
I started a game on FB to find what is the big difference between the two guns (except the markings => it's cheaper).
The handle !
All this because of the battery, which gets into the handle on the GG S&T. Small problem: we need to find batteries that fit in this space. There is the original (8.4 V, 1100 mAh), but there is also a Li-Po (7.4V, 900mAh). It just runs, even if the length of wire is consistent. Attention to this small part then that is easily lost. The small button must be forward.
As you can see, then I have no problem holding the replica, my little finger is placed. While on the other, my little finger rides below. The actual dimensions are those of the ARES, but I must admit that S&T is much more convenient.
For the silng is an USM1 sling, so it's easy to find, there are in all Militaria shops.
You would say "it's ugly" seeing traces of mold but it's realistic and...
AH I killed François Ho....
Neo ! This is lawyer. No politics in your f*cking videos!
Yes... Understood...
I was often asked if Grease Gun M3A1 was used in Normandy. Well no, it has never been used. This is the GG M3 (first version) was used. But not this one that appeared in late 1944 so for the Battle of the Bulge.
There was never any intermediate version, with the window of the M3A1 and the cocking of the M3. So the mix proposed by the ARES GG V2 (Blow back) is pure fantasy, it never existed in real life, you can check on Google Image if you want.
The sights are extremely hardy: a hole, a line, aligning the line through the hole.
On my GG S&T, the hole was not fully excavated, but a stroke of cutter has corrected the problem.
The inner barrel goes from here to there but there is an excellent range and accuracy rather correct. We won't mount a scope on it but it is respectable!
To bring with you your spare magazines, you need Thompson pouch of 6 magazines.
We can put in (AH AH AH) 4 magazines.
But don't buy the specific pouch of Grease Gun magazines, which appeared just after the war.
ARES magazines can contain 65 BB's while magazines S & T can contain 420. Both magazines are not interchangeable between brands. 65 BB's because there is no place to put more content because of the battery into the magazine. To access the battery, I suggest you handle the small button without putting BB's into the magazine because it is in direct contact with the spring.
Have a charger with a battery in it, it is a big advantage because when the gun has no magazine, it cann't shoot, it avoids small problems as I had earlier. So better security (that the hatch is not reliable).
And these magazines, they make me even when sacred chills ...
You lost 10 points in charisma. You won 5 points in ridiculous.
For once, I have the opportunity to offer you a little test shooting outdoors. I show you the ARES and after the S&T.
The BB's come to here.
The BB's come to here, but hit the trees before having the maximum reach.
I hope this video will be more, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me and I'll see you next month for a new video review.
This is Flamby. Yes, it is the ceiling.
