They're back. It's back.
TSCC continue the story of the Terminator movies.
Who could forget the famous line: "Hasta la vista baby".
We're safe.
No one is ever safe.
Now.
Sarah Connor has to protect her son
from ruthless killing machines from the future.
And like in the movies the future of mankind lies in her hands.
I was sent here to protect John.
I will lose my boy.
The future is ours.
And it begins now.
Cameras are rolling here at the Warner Bros Studios
They're shooting the third episode of the second season of TSCC.
In this scene Cameron, played by Summer Glau,
lifts effortlessly an heavy computer box on a truck
and Thomas Dekker, who plays John Connor, explains to her
that in real life that would be a bit harder to do.
So, let's take a look.
The first episode of the first season of TSCC
had amazing ratings: 18 million viewers.
So we went to take a look behind the scenes.
What's special in this scene?
What's special?
We have to keep the viewers believing that Summer Glau is a robot.
Here we're showing her supernatural strength in a subtle way.
She's lifting a box on the car
and the viewer must believe that the box is really heavy.
People are looking at her and notice
that there's something weird going on.
It's all very subtle.
There's no gun fighting, explosions or car crashes
this is a very normal situation: shopping.
And yet the terminator has to be careful not to reveal her identity.
Name: Cameron Status: female terminator
On the outside, you're just as pretty as a picture.
But on the inside, you're a--
Hyper-alloy combat chassis.
You're here to protect John from being assassinated.
Please remain calm.
Summer Glau, thank you for this interview.
It's a pleasure to meet you and to watch you shooting.
You make a great terminator.
Summer: Thank you.
It must be a very difficult role to play.
How is it to play faked emotions?
In this case all my choices are conscious.
When I'm acting in other roles I do everything instinctually.
When you play a robot
you always make conscious decisions
even when it's about physical movements.
That's why I see this role as a challenge.
In this series there's a lot of action and stunts
you have to fight and use guns
So what's different compared to other roles you've played?
Well I've done some action scenes before, but it was more about martial arts techniques.
When you play a terminator you don't need that fighting technique.
It's sort of in the middle.
They're so strong that they just destroy everything that comes in their way.
They don't have special moves
they just destroy everything that stands in their way.
And there's a lot of gun fighting. Which is different and good for me.
As female terminator you couldn't take much from Schwarzenegger.
You had to create a new character. How did you do that?
It's been a lot of fun.
It's one of the good things about this series.
That I didn't have to follow in someone else's footsteps.
But I could create an original character.
It's been fantastic to work on it with the producers and writers.
And the character evolves
She's a robot that absorbs everything like a sponge.
She learns from the different people she meets
so she's constantly evolving.
How would you describe Cameron?
Sometimes we think she can feel emotions,
but she's a machine, it's not possible.
She's the most advanced model ever built.
That's why she can imitate human emotions.
But she's also the most sensitive terminator.
She can detect and understand other people's emotions.
She's very childlike in the way she tries to discover the world around her.
She's very sincere but also complicated and very smart.
How would you describe Cameron's relationship with John?
Very complicated.
They have a relationship that they still haven't quite explored.
In the future they'll have a different kind of relationship.
On the one hand John's attracted to her.
On the other he hates her.
And he wishes he could have a different life.
She's a very complicated figure in his world.
In the meanwhile at the parking lot John tries to get away from his protector.
Cameron, John and Sarah have just experienced time travelling.
And while they have fun on set
the series is about stopping the machines.
In this scene John tries to get away from Cameron
because he wants to meet Riley alone.
Name: John Connor Status: Saviour of Mankind
I'm not who they think I am.
Some Messiah.
You don't know that.
Come with me if you wanna live.
Next time you do what you're trained to do.
You run.
