Good afternoon mustangs
I'm Jaydon!
And I'm Megan!
And this is your West News.
Today is Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013.
Tomorrow the low is expected to be 38 degrees and the
high 71 degrees.
Students, today was the day to sign the "I Pledge to Stay
Drug Free!" banner at lunch, which will then be hung in the
cafeteria for the remainder of the week. Get your name up
there and pledge to live drug free!
Attention all you Mustangs who are reading or have read
the book Skeleton Creek! Get a pass from the librarians
so you can bring your lunch to the library tomorrow and
join the Mustang Book Club to discuss this creatively
spooky book and watch some of the videos that go along
with it. There will also be some yummy treats so get a
pass and be there tomorrow during lunch!
Now to Lucas in sports!
She shoots! She scores! 7th and 8th grade lady Mustang
basketball begins Friday @ 2:45. Hoop it up Friday at lady
Mustang basketball practice from 2:45 to 4:15. She
shoots! She scores!
Borah high coaches Corpus and Murchie will be visiting
West tomorrow! The meeting is open to all 7th, 8th and
9th grade football players. This meeting is at lunch in the
little gym on the 23rd. 7th and 8th graders meet during
first lunch and 9th graders meeting during second lunch.
Be there.
Yesterday the 8th grade volleyball team played their final
match of the regular season. This also coincided with their
best performance on the volleyball court. Although the
team lost the match they pushed East (the number 1
seed for the tournament) all the way and can go into the
tournament with confidence. The match scores were:
15 to 25, 25 to 22 and 10 to 15. Some notables in the
match were Alyssa Bolt with 12 serves. Macie Nelson,
Trinity Denton and Zoey Larsen also backed up the team
with 4 serves each. In the match the team had eighteen 3-
touch plays. Nice match girls! The team can go into
tomorrow's match with "upset" as a potential outcome.
Coach Johnston.
The 8th grade JV Mustangs wrapped up their volleyball
season last night vs. the East Hornets. In the first game
the girls rallied together and fought to the end, but fell a
few points short. In the second game, the Mustangs took
charge and rallied together for the win. In the third game,
the ladies had a good lead, but the Hornets had a great
server who was able to close the lead to a tie. From then
on, it was a fight for each point. The Mustangs played
their hardest, but unfortunately lost by only 3 points.
We should all be very proud of our 8th Grade JV team!
Because there are 27 girls on the team, they had to split
into two teams, so each team only played 7 games. Even
with only half as much experience as the other teams,
they were great competitors, with many of our losses
being by 5 points or less! Amazing season ladies!!!
Now back to the studio!
This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given
this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for
good. What you do today is important because you are
exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow
comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is
something that you have left behind...let it be something
good. Make today the start of new habits, healthy
choices, and taking steps to reaching your dreams. Drugs
have no part in your future successes!
Remember, Door decorating will be judged Thursday, so
make sure it is done by tomorrow!
The Halloween Dance is this THURSDAY, October 24,
from 6-8. Tickets go on sale today for $3.00 or will be
$5.00 at the door. Student ID required along with receipt.
School appropriate costumes are ok. No masks,
weapons, or make-up that makes you unrecognizable are
allowed. Come and have some spooky fun!
The quote of the day is from our very own Frankie
Johnson. She said, "Following your dreams isn't always
easy, but if you give up now you won't be any closer." So
appreciate today Mustangs.
This is Jaydon!
And Megan!
Stay classy West Jr. High!
