So after a career fair it's always important to basically send a thank you note to whoever
it is that you talked to if they give you their contact information, a quick note that
says "thanks for talking to me, giving me more information. I look forward to hearing
from you guys," something along those lines.
A quick email to be remembered is always really important. If you have their phone number,
I think leaving a nice voice mail also gives a nice personal touch. And if you have a business
card and you have an address I love receiving hand-written thank you notes from students.
That obviously takes a little more time than writing an email, but I think that's a great
way to be remembered by an employer on campus.
I think the best way to follow up is just to ask for a contact. Especially in HR in
big companies. Ask for a name, ask for an email address.
Just depends on every company. Definitely when you leave the interview or after you
meet an employer when you're leaving you should ask them, like, "what are the next steps?'
Just so you know, you know, what they expect from you and what also what you're going to
expect from them.
If they've spoken to an employer about something that they're interested in, a specific internship,
a specific job, and they're able to get some information. What I would do is go online,
make sure that they apply for the job as soon as they can. A lot of times first resumes
in are the ones that get looked at. If they remember an employer's name, connecting with
them on LinkedIn I think could be really important.
Thank you notes, although old school, are still well accepted by my peers and myself.
Just another way, it's a little different from what most people do. Should always follow
up with an email if you're interested in moving forward with the position to the person that
you spoke with.
