How many people does it take to lower your electric bill? Just one — you. All you have
to do is screw in a new, high-efficiency light bulb.
This is your Union Plus Green Minute and I’m here to tell you how to go green, save green
and support good union jobs at the same time, by replacing incandescent bulbs with new Sylvania
Super Saver halogen light bulbs. They use 33 percent less electricity and are union-made
here in the USA . They’re sold at Lowe’s, Menards, BJ’s Wholesale Club and the Sylvania
online store.
Compact-flourescent light bulbs use even less energy and save you more money, but they are
more expensive, they’re made overseas, and they contain a toxic substance: mercury.
Changing to halogen light bulbs in your home are an inexpensive way to go green, but when
you’re tackling larger energy efficient home improvements and pay for them with your
Union Plus credit card, you could get a $100 dollar rebate for every $400 dollars you spend,
up to a maximum of $500 dollars back.
