Look! You can see my face!
So I'm Molly Rantin, and this is not a rant, which I kind of feel bad about because I
haven't actually posted a rant in a while, but it's Esther Day.
So for those of you who aren't Nerdfighters, you might not know what Esther Day is,
and for those of you who aren't Nerdfighters, you also probably don't know what Nerdfighting is,
because otherwise you would probably be Nerdfighters. Unless of course you're a Decepticon.
Stop being so Decepticonny! Is that a word? Can that be a word? Decepticonny?
I hope that's a word.
So trying to explain Nerdfighting to a bunch of people who don't know what Nerdfighting is
and trying to explain Esther to a bunch of people who don't know what Esther Day is and all of this
is gonna be a very difficult thing to do, so what I want you guys to do
is to go to the Vlogbrothers channel on YouTube and watch all, oh, nine hundred something
of their videos, and go buy all of Hank's albums and go buy all of John's books,
and just a whole bunch of things until you're all caught up on Nerdfighting.
Now I know there's some of you who aren't actually gonna want to do that, and I kind of understand,
so to summarize, Esther Day is a holiday for people who follow the Vlogbrothers on YouTube.
Basically, Esther was this big fan of the Vlogbrothers, and they liked her so much
that they decided that every day on her birthday in perpetuity, they would do whatever she wanted them to do.
Esther said that every year on her birthday, she wanted the Vlogbrothers to basically talk about love
and family. I'm gonna turn the fan back on. You probably won't even hear it.
FAN TIME.
So this is really my first Esther Day, but I thought it would be a good idea to participate. Thing is, I
don't really see the point in saying I Love You to my biological family members through YouTube, because
of the fact that none of them know that this channel exists, and they probably won't know for a
very, very long time. But the thing about family is that, to me, it doesn't just apply to people who you're
biologically related to. In fact, a lot of times, I feel that it doesn't apply to those people at all. They just
happen to be somehow connected to you genetically. I'm one of those people who see their friends as family as
well, so I thought I'd spend a little time in this video saying things that are hard by saying I Love You to some
of my specific friends.
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER.
Ramona, I love you. You're one of the greatest people I know, and I'm so glad that we've had
so many years to spend together.
Taylor, I love you. I don't know what I would do without you. You're the kind of person who just makes me feel
like I can get through the day as long as I have a chance to talk to you sometime soon.
Omigod, Natalie, I love you so much, and you deserve so much from people. If anyone tells you that you don't
deserve to be happy, f**k them. I mean, don't, like, actually have sex with them, because they're ***.
Rachel, I love you, and whatever choices you make, don't let anyone tell you that they're wrong. I mean, unless
they're, like, actually wrong, but for the most part, you have really good judgement.
Stephanie, even though you're technically related to me biologically, I'll still count you here, because you're
my friend and my cousin, and you're my F 'n C, and I love you so much.
Christine, I've never met you, but I seriously love you.
Tara, my darling wife, I love you. But seriously, I love you.
All of you on Tumblr watching this? I love you!
Seriously, you guys make my life with your rockingness, and your awesome, and your feminism, and your fantasticness.
And YouTube followers? I don't know if I love you yet. I mean . . .
I like how I look, but that's not what I value myself for, and it really shouldn't be what you're valuing me for.
We'll work on being good friends.
Anyway, I know this isn't a particularly interesting video for anyone coming here for, like, a long rant or something.
The whole point of this channel is that, even though it's difficult to say things like this, it's still really important.
So for me, Esther Day is really important, and I wanted to wish you all a happy Esther Day,
and I wanted to tell all of the people I love that I love them.
And to tell YouTube that you should probably shape up.
I'm just kidding, I mostly love you, YouTube!
Anyway, I'm Molly Rantin. DFTBA.
