Hi there, on behalf of expert village.com My name is Candice Copeland here today to
share with you my wonderful world of raw hide art. We already have gone through what it
is like in the process of working the hides and putting them over the mold and taking
them off the mold, and leaving them in their pure state. This is the next stage if I wanted
to really get into the decoration. Taking the same molds we had before, now I've added
paint to his face, I've added Human hair, braided it, brought that hair down, put a
nice little necklace on him with some turtle claws because his name was Turtle! and he
was also besides this particular face he was also done by Lionel Reese in a series of Photographs
that gave us a little more history about him because his name was Turtle. So in this one
I chose to put a turtle in it to honor his name and then we go all kinds of wonderful
peacock and different kinds of pheasants and chicken feathers and a couple of parrots in
there that gave him this wonderful wispy feel. This one was framed and some people were actually
almost bought this one. I'm almost glad I really love it. And they were traveling so
they wanted to be able to take it out of the galleria and have it easier to take so I took
it out of the frame well when I did that I thought well no it needs more so I found this
lushes piece of buck skin. This is the difference. This is after the hide has been tanned it
becomes leather, like what we have in our shoes and our handbags. This is the next step
process, so now you got this really nice and hold it over and give a real amount of quality
that's just quite extraordinary to add to the dimension of this, and we'll take a little
pan here and let you see what I mean when I refer to the face being the very same it
takes on its own footprint every time. Every time I used that mold, a different face came
out of it depending on how the hide worked and what kind or recruitments and decorations
I added to the piece.
