Hi my name is Sarah and my name is Haley and we are two of the technicians here at Extra
Care Animal Hospital and on behalf of Expert Village.com, we are going to speak with you
today a little bit about the care of your dog. I am here to discuss vaccinating your
dog. It is extremely important that you do continue to do vaccine your dog throughout
their life. You generally start the vaccines when they are 6 to 8 weeks of age doing them
every 2 to 4 weeks depending on veterinarian’s preference up until they are around 4 months
of age. It is very important to get your dog vaccinated annually for rabies and distemper
as certain areas of the country do have very high incidents of rabies; usually from foxes
and raccoons so you definitely want your dog to be protected in the event that your dog
escapes from your house. Other things such as canine distemper and parvo virus should
be vaccinated annually as these are the disease that can be very easily spread to your dog.
They can be spread when your dog comes into contact with another dog that has these diseases
or they can be spread from encountering areas where dogs shedding the viruses have been
present. If you are interested in getting more information about our animal hospital
