Welcome back to "On the Bench", a video series produced by Q Source, Inc.
In 2011 we debuted this series with the unboxing of the Hakko FX-888.
Today, we're excited to bring you the unboxing of the all-new FX-888D Digital Soldering Station.
The Hakko FX-888D Digital Soldering Station is the new digital update to the discontinued FX-888.
The FX-888D features digital functionality, user-selectable preset temperatures & digital calibration, password protection, and a low-temperature alarm.
As we open the box, the first thing we see is the detailed instruction manual laying right on top.
A quick glance at the manual will show what items are included and their specs.
Next, we find the FX-8801 Soldering Iron.
The FX-8801 uses T18 Series tips, comes fitted with a T18-D16 chisel tip, and features a ceramic heating element.
Sitting in the bottom of the box are the soldering station, the FH-800 Iron Holder, a cleaning sponge, and cleaning wire.
The ESD-safe FX-888D retains the small size of the original with its compact dimensions and a weight of just 2.6 lb.
Looking at the front of the unit you'll notice the biggest changes on the FX-888D; the digital display and the two control buttons.
With these, the user can adjust the temperature, access presets, set the passwords, and other functions.
The Hakko FX-888D Digital Soldering Station is available from QSource.com and will begin shipping January 14, 2013.
We also have an extensive selection of T18 Series tips and FX-888 accessories.
