Hi! I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I am going to show you my opinions and techniques
of how to properly lead your horse. Another example of an improper way to lead your horse
is to actually wrap the lead rope around your hand. When you do this and your horse would
happen to startle and pull away from you, you are going to have a lot harder time letting
go of this lead rope because it is going to be wrapped around your hand. So the more likelihood
of being drug along with the horse or being knocked down and having the horse trample
you because you can't let go of the lead rope like you need to or the horse really got startled
enough that you have to let go of him. So you always want to make sure that you are
looping your lead rope like this and you are just holding it in between your fingers. You
don't want to ever wrap it around the hand because that is just really dangerous. You
should never ever do that. Also too, you could end up breaking a finger if you have the lead
rope with a chain on it. You could end up cutting yourself badly and getting some really
serious rope burns, so you never want to wrap your lead rope around your hand. It is one
of the most dangerous things you can do when you are leading a horse. So always just kind
of hold it loosely between your fingers. That is another example of an improper way to lead
your horse.
