Hey everybody! I'm hanging out here with my friend, the capybara.
I just wanted to take a minute today to say thank you to everybody who's watched, shared, and commented on The Brain Scoop in the last year.
January 14th marks our one year anniversary from when we uploaded our first video and I honestly cannot believe everything that's happened in the last 365 days.
I went from being an unpaid volunteer in Montana at the University of Montana Zoological Museum to having a full time position here at The Field Museum in Chicago.
I moved across the country and more than that, I've traveled all over the United States in the past couple of months,
going to conventions and conferences, and meeting fans, and going to things like VidCon.
And it's really been an overwhelmingly positive experience. I'm so happy and so grateful to be able to share what I love with the rest of the world
and to have that love and appreciation for natural history to be reciprocated by so many others is more gratifying than I could have ever imagined.
So all of that is due in part to you guys and your support and your enthusiasm for this show.
I'm happy to announce that I just got back from a trip to Kenya where we filmed with Field Museum curator of mammals Bruce Patterson,
and a bunch of Kenyan biologists were studying bats in some of the national parks down there, so we filmed for a week,
and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. I was like, knee deep in guano, like wading in these caves.
There were beetles flying in my face and it was disgusting and noisy and hot and... beautiful.
Like it was, the best time and I really cannot wait to share that footage with you guys.
So I just wanted to say thanks for the last year, and I'm really looking forward to another one.
