(female student) Math Jam was good because I was having a lot of stress
about going into college math and not succeeding, so Math Jam was really helpful to,
you know, kind of refresh all the math I took in high school that I wasn't so caught up on.
(male student) There's a lot of things that I might have forgotten,
so its...it kind of makes you review the things that you've learned in the past years.
(female student) I didn't take math my senior year, so like I've had a year of not doing math,
so to like jump right into math would have been really hard,
so now that I've had all this review, its like I feel like I can do this now.
(male student) It..it really got us in a mindset of school where I was in a mindset of just party all summer.
(female student) At first I thought it was like...it was just like a...boring program.
I'm going to have to sit here for two weeks and go through this.
But no, it's actually...better than what I thought it was going to be.
(male student) I...I thought it was going to be like just...six hours at school, sitting down, doing books,
but there's no books involved. Just like worksheets and there's activities with cards
and there's activities on the board and there's activities outside,
so it's totally different than what I thought it would be.
(female student) I was afraid it was just going to be like, you know, no talking--like super strict--
and it was going to be like, you know, grumpy because it's morning and like math...but its like a lot fun.
Like everybody's like really friendly and like you go out and do games and stuff.
(male student) I thought it was going to be kind of boring, but...like when you actually get into it,
you get to meet a lot of new people and have a pretty good time.
(female student) It's a good way to meet people so that you have friends in your classes.
(female student) It was really good. Like...we meet a lot of people
and its...its kind of brings you back to doing math even if you haven't done it for awhile,
and just...get your feed...like feedbacks and the tutors really help you and like I said,
you meet a lot of people. You get introduced to college, and I really liked it.
(female student) The funest thing had to be the battle ship game,
and that's kind of like where we worked with graphing, but at the same time,
we kind of got physical, you know, competative with it.
(female student) We set up the...the desk and like a graph, and then we had to like plot the points,
and like we're the points, and like we had to like bomb the other team. It was really fun.
(male student) I learned how to communicate with others a lot better,
how to work with a...like a...big varitiety of groups at random times, and you know, team work.
(female student) I learned to not be shy because it's not gonna help anything.
I learned...I re...kind of reviewed everything math, so it's kind of like relearned everything,
and it's gonna...I know it's gonna help when I do start my classes.
(female student) Graphing of quadratic functions was something I struggled with, so it was good to learn more.
(male student) Most of the formulas for math that I'd forgotten
over like freshman year, sophmore year, they re-taught to me.
(male student) I learned like...that I'm an audiory learner, so...well, as long as I'm talking, I'm learning.
(male student) I'm ready for the school year to start.
(female student) I'm ready for it.
(male student) I do feel ready.
(female student) I feel very prepared for my math class. Like it's going to be easy.
(male student) I...I be ready.
(female student) A lot more ready than I was before Math Jam.
(male student) Anything I didn't like about Math Jam? It was only two weeks.
