The Table Repair Utility assists Web authors in making tables accessible.
When tables are used for layout, they are not required to have additional markup under Section 508 requirements.
However, when tables are used to present data,
It is required that table row and column headers be clearly defined
to convey accurate information displayed in each table cell.

We pick up this lesson where the previous lesson using the AccRepair Wizard left off,
with the Table Utility Editor dialog box and the page that needs to be repaired both open.
Under the Set Up and Run the Automatic Table Fix options section,
uncheck the box labeled, “Table is used for layout.”
If necessary, put a check mark next to the “Add scope attribute to Table Header cells.”
Click the Header Elements button.
In the table grid view, click and drag downward to select the text in cells A2 and A3, “Dr. Smith” and “Dr. Chan.”
Then click the Switch TD to TH button.
Click the OK button to close the Information message box, summarizing the actions just completed.
Click the Automatic Fix button in the Table Utility Editor dialog box.
If necessary, click to put a check mark in the “Make all cells in these rows Table Header Cells" checkbox.
Click the ellipses button to open the Select Rows dialog box.
If necessary, click to put a check mark next to rows that contain headers.
In this case, row 1. Then click the Save button.
Click the Run Automatic Fix button in the lower right corner of the Table Utility Editor dialog box.
Cell A1 contains the word "Professor," which is set up to be a column.
So, we need to set the scope of that cell to column, then press the Update button.
Cell B1 corresponds to "Section," which is also a column.
So, set the scope of that cell to column and then press the Update button again.
Cell C1 is "Course," which is set up to be a column also.
So, set the scope for that cell to column, then press the Update button again.
Cell A2 corresponds to Dr. Smith, which is set up to be a row.
So set the scope of that cell to be a row, then click on Update.
Cell A3 contains the text, "Dr. Chan." This is meant to be a row.
So set the scope of that cell to row, then press the Update button.
Then, click OK.
Then, click the Finish button.
Click the OK button.
