The social economic burden of disease is, especially in Europe but also in
the U.S., very high.
So we have direct costs
of about 1-6 million dollars
per one hundred thousand inhabitants.
And these direct costs or in these direct costs
indirect costs account for the greatest part.
So indirect costs meaning lost productivity, or lost days
at the workplace. These indirect costs account for about
eighty to ninety percent
of the entire burden of disease which is very very high.
And I think in here we should
think about the working population
as actually there we have the lost working days.
So, we really should try to vaccinate
those people in the working-age group
as they actually account for the highest burden of disease.
