>> A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Tracey Bewley graduated from Norman High School in 1982.
She attended Oklahoma City Community College from 1989 to 1992
and received an associates degree in art and design.
She went on from there to Oklahoma City University and graduated with a bachelor
of fine arts degree with a minor in museum studies.
In 1995, Tracey started her career at MTM Recognition,
formerly Midwest Trophy Manufacturing Company with the help and guidance
of her former OCCC art instructor Carolyn Ferris.
Today she is the manager of MTM's custom design department where she oversees the design
of many high profile awards including NASCAR's Nationwide Cup,
over 80% of the current college football bowl game awards,
and awards for large corporations including Sonic, Chesapeake, Coca Cola, Famers Insurance,
McDonald's, Merrill-Lynch and many others.
>> Back when I went to OCCC, I was actually much more of an illustrator and painter
and worked more on paper and did a lot of 2D type illustrations which has worked well
into my career at MTM, but my work that I do here at the studio is actually evolved
to a completely different direction.
I work primarily in glass, but in a lot of mixed media.
>> Tracey married Rick Bewley in 2001 and together they created Urban Art,
a gallery and collection of art studios including Art Fusion Studio
where they collaborate on many types of large commission art projects.
Art Fusion has placed pieces in the Iguana Lounge, the Samis Education Center,
the Allied Arts offices, and Sonic Headquarters as well as in restaurants
and residences in Oklahoma and Florida.
Over the years, Tracey has explored many artistic mediums such as illustrating, painting,
sculpting, photography, stained glass and currently fused glass.
Her work has garnered awards from Outback Oklahoma Festival, Edge Art Now,
the Stillwater Arts and Heritage Festival, Arts Festival Oklahoma, Mesta Festa,
the Hold it Container Show, OAG's Oklahoma Friendly Show,
and Photo Fest on Paseo, among others.
>> I try not to gloat too much because I feel like I've got the perfect life right now.
I've got a wonderful husband, I've got a studio I'm in love with.
I live up above it in a wonderful apartment that I get to come downstairs and go to work
in my studio and work and play on glass all day long.
My day job is a creative, artistic venue as well.
I feel extremely lucky that my life has turned out the way it has.
>> Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome 2012 Alumni Hall of Fame inductee, Tracey Bewley.
