(sound of iPhone app) I run about three or four times a week like
five miles each time and then I also do some weight lifting just to have some upper body
strength for the obstacles. I signed up for Tough Mudder back in March when a really fit
friend encouraged me to do it and I just spontaneously did it, not really thinking how hard it would
be because I had eight months to train for it. It's really hard to balance out life with
school, work and then also working out so sometimes working out takes a back seat, so
it's really nice to be able to have a goal to work towards and to really have the motivation
to continue working out and stay fit. I run different places and just switch up the scenery,
like running at the beach or in neighborhoods and then I also go to the gym, do different
kinds of weight classes and just do weight training on my own. So I do pole dance twice
a week for about a year now and that's really building upper body strength and just muscles
that you otherwise didn't know you had. So I feel like that gives me the upper hand because
I have a lot of shoulder and back muscles and core muscles that I've gained through
climbing up a pole. (sound of running and panting)
Definitely the ten to twelve mile part, I'm scared that I won't be able to finish that
part. Most of the obstacles I'm okay with but I'm nervous about the shocking obstacles
because you really can't train to run into a shock. But I just know that everyone else
is getting shocked as well, so if they can do it I feel like I can do it. I'm going to
be happy that I at least challenged myself to do this experience, and it's really not
a race it's just challenging that I can get across or just to do it, so whether I get across
or not I will be glad that I put the effort in.
