(male narrator) Thousands of years of human progress, taken
out by a combination of nature, pharmaceuticals, and greed. The rush to profit from a new cure
all mood drug led to the contamination of the product by a symbiotic fungus that had
previously only targeted ants. From there the water supply was compromised. The greater
Los Angeles area was over 10 million people when the first wave of infection took out
almost 100% of the population. All via their drinking water. They were all gone within
a week.
(female newscaster)
There is civil unrest across Los Angeles. As of 3:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, local
officials have declared a state of emergency for major cities within the Los Angeles area.
Everyone is advised to stay indoors until.... (cut to static)
(male narrator) The fungus turned people into monsters. Feeding
on each other. The military response was quick, lethal, and ultimately effective. The first
wave was contained.
Time passed. We all tried to move on with our lives as best as we could.
Until a bus of infected patients crashed off the highway near my home essentially starting
the second wave.
(slow eerie rock melody plays) (car skidding, loud crashing metal and glass)
(police and ambulance sirens) The military has no chance this time. It's
evolved and spreading too fast. The second wave may very well be what ends society as
we know it.
I've gotta find my kids.
(gunshot)
