Hello and welcome to our new Rail Nation tutorial. Today we'll focus on the upcoming update.
Some of the improvements will be presented in our videos, starting with the Competitions.
I brought Andy with me, our QA tester who'll explain it to us.
I'll ask him a bunch of questions to confuse him a little.
Okay, let's have a look.
We are on the Rail Nation "PTR" server already. "Public Test Realm" - here we can test updates before releasing them.
If you want to have an earlier look too, you can apply for the PTR easily in our forum.
So you might get a little knowledge in advance.
Alright, everything looks different. A competition with a waving flag. What do we see, Andy?
What does this display mean?
We can see that the competition is currently running and I'm taking part already.
Okay, please show the widget again.
So there are 23 minutes remaining.
Yes.
The required good is cotton.
I have 0/70 tons right now.
Why?
Because I wanted to save them for the tutorial video.
Very nice. You give up a big income for the video. By the way, which income? The three little icons above?
Yes, those are the rewards. You can win money and prestige, and also licenses and other cool stuff.
So, besides the usual stuff you can win extra prizes which are more difficult to receive. That's awesome.
Okay, please show us the mouse-over again and let's check which information we'll get in addition.
So we see the current standings. The user "Rufiko" won with a time of 17:10 minutes already.
He finished already and, as you can see, he received the license.
It's displayed next to him. So only the first place will get it.
Only the first place, yes.
Okay, one top prize.
It's more thrilling now.
I see. You could consider, if you participate because of money or prestige or if you want the top prize by making the first place.
Okay, the user "Alzheimer" finished too, with 21 minutes, that's why there's a little flag next to him.
And user "police" is on his way, but the arrow is red, so it seems he won't make it in time.
Yes. Or he discontinued.
Yeah, he discontinued, because he only wanted the license. That's life.
As said before, this is the PTR server with some pre-release issues. I'm in this list twice, that shouldn't happen.
Might increase your chances. Okay, are you registered already?
I'm registered, that's why I'm in the list.
Makes sense. Alright, let's send out a train. Is it on its way already?
No, not yet. I want to finish this as quickly as possible, so I choose a train and delete the current schedule ...
And I set a new one for cotton.
It's called "Oldtown West", because the PTR is an English server.
... now I send it back to the city. And by using this nice feature, I adopt the schedule for all my trains.
Small but nice, even some PLUS-account users might haven't see it before.
I can select all trains.
And if some wagons are missing, I can directly buy them here. By clicking "confirm" all trains will be on their way.
Okay, seems easy, even if the competition is almost over already.
We still have the chance to win money and prestige.
That's true. Can I see some information about upcoming competitions?
Of course. In the planning office...
Like practiced.
... as usual. The tab Competitions, and here you see it again.
With all extra prizes.
With the extra prizes. And you can see that you can win a PLUS-account and gold in 5:30 h.
Some people might stay awake tonight. Next prize is a lottery ticket ...
Right. And a licence again. A bonus engine is possible too.
A bonus engine you say? That might be a pretty interesting competition.
The whole city focusses on one competition, that shouldn't take 10 minutes.
You could inform your association to place investments in the industry you need.
Right, you could combine that. And if you register before, you don't have to be online.
Do your schedules and you take part from the very first second.
And if you hire mechanics, you should be prepared very well.
Okay, I'll check out one of these competitions live in front of the monitor.
I'll take part too, but I won't have a chance.
Nice. That's it. A short overview about the new competitions.
How they'll be in future.
Awesome. See you next time. Bye!
