YouTube has updated the monetization requirements verification process.
When YouTube detects the audio in your video, you will receive an email like this one.
This is usually within the first 24 hours of selecting the monetize option for your
video. Clicking the link will take you to the license
verification screen. You will be required to provide the name of
the track, artist, direct URL Note that the direct URL should be to the
file. If you cannot provide the exact download link,
then provide a link to the download screen with specific notes for the download button.
Next, link to the license terms. This need to be the full terms of the license,
not the link to the description of the license. It is extremely important to note that not
all Creative Commons music licensing are permitted. YouTube requires that you have commercial
use rights. If the license is Non-Commercial, you will
be declined for monetization. In this example, I used the song "Dropping
out of School" by Brad Sucks in my GoPro Hero3+ test video.
First I selected "I have an online license for some or all of my content"
I then entered this into the box provided. It is not required to submit any formal explanations
or pleasantries. Once submitted, it should take less than two
days for the links you provided to be validated.
