Hi there, Dave here
So Windows XP is now approaching the end of its life cycle.
In this video I'm going to explain what this actually means
and what to do if you are still using Windows XP.
So Microsoft will stop support for Windows XP on the 8th April 2014.
First of all this means that XP users will no longer receive security updates.
This means that XP users will be more and more vunerable to things like viruses
and other computer attacks.
It will also be increasingly difficult to find any hardware or software
that works with Windows XP.
And finally, technical support from Microsoft will also come to an end on this date.
In other words, Windows XP is becoming obsolete.
If you are still using Windows XP after the 8th of April
your computer will still continue to work normally
but you'll find that more and more problems occur over time.
So what can you do if you're still an XP user?
There's really only two options...
the first option is to buy yourself a new computer with a newer version of Windows
such as Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
The second option is to just get yourself a newer version of Windows
and install that onto your current computer.
But if you do choose this option, you'll have to make sure that your computer is compatible
with the newer version of Windows of your choice.
The trouble with the second option is that most XP computers
aren't really designed to work with a newer version of Windows.
So if you are still using Windows XP, I would recommend the first option...
getting yourself a newer computer.
If you would like more information on upgrading Windows
go to www.microsoft.com.
So the message here is
if you are still using Windows XP, it's time to upgrade to a newer version of Windows.
So that's it for today. Thanks for watching. See you next time.
