Hello, my name is Federico Formica. I am 26 years old and I live in Rome,
a city admired and photographed by tourists from all over the world.
But Rome is not just a touristic city.
In recent years, social and cultural conflicts have increased
in a city that is uncovering its multi-ethnicity. The same is occurring throughout Italy.
Rome gives hospitality to the Vatican State, and this is why Italy is the most Catholic country in Europe.
Like most people my age, I also spent time in oratories,
but in my family there's always been a great freedom of choice
regarding religious matters. I'd like to report from my country
from a laic point a view, respecting all religions.
I studied to be a journalist because this was my dream since I was a child, when
my parents told me about my grandfather, who had been a newspaper reporter.
He died when I was one year old, but he continues to be my point of reference.
For me, journalism is not a job. It's a passion.
I'm a journalist and video-journalist.
I also worked for newspapers, and in radio and online news.
This profession involves a great responsibility
to make people and their problems visible or invisible.
That's why I always look for stories that are normally ignored
by mainstream media. Through the issues I investigate, I hope to
make you comprehend Italy's complexities.
Through the VJ Movement I want to show you new and interesting stories,
to excite you, surprise you, to make you indignant
and to entertain you as well. Come on!
