When I was a little girl, I didn't have a Barbie doll, because they were too expensive.
But I did have a catalogue with Barbie dolls and I was always reading it and yearning for
one. To see an example, I will read from my diary which I kept from 10 to 17 years old.
On 20th December 1999, I wrote this: The winter holiday is here. I would like to get from
Santa a pair of large pants, with pockets on the side. I don't think I'm too pretentious.
I don't even need to be. I want this more than anything in the world. I also want a
Barbie doll, but if I will get this, it would be a miracle.
Actually, I wanted one so badly when I was little, that a few years ago I bought one
from a flea market in Germany. So, even without having a Barbie doll when I was a kid, they
did influence me. As many other girls, I used to love their blonde hair and their balerina
body. In real life, I found girls to be beautiful if they looked like the Barbie doll. But what
would Barbie look if she was a real girl? Well, kind of like this: her head would have
the same circumference as her waist, so she would only have room in her body for half
of liver and a few centimeters of intestines, when, in fact, our intestines are 800 cm long.
So Barbie would have chronical diarrhea and would die of malnutrition. If a regular woman
would want to have Barbie's proportions, she should be 61 cm taller, have a 15 cm smaller
waist and a 8 cm taller neck. If Barbie would be a real woman, her neck would be so long
that it would be impossible for her to keep her head high. Barbie would have to crawl,
because her feet are so small that her big chest would force her to bend over.
Some of us want to look like Barbie when we grow up and we are dissapointed when we see
our bodies develop differently. It doesn't need to be like that, since, as we saw, Barbie
is not built anatomicaly correct and doesn't look like a real woman. So, let's see what
happens in reality with girls when they grow up! This episode, we are talking about girls
puberty. If you are a person in a girl's body, here is what it's going to happen to
you:
Apart from her unrealistic proportions, Barbie is also missing something: apart from her
golden looks, she has no hair on her body. Attention, attention! Huge announcement!
I have something to say: hair grows on girls faces and bodies. I will say it again, maybe
you didn't hear me! Hair grows on girls faces and bodies! And that's perfectly natural!
As natural as it is for boys to have hair on their faces and bodies. During puberty,
hair will grow on your legs, ***, armpit, face.
Are you a human being? Congratulations, there is hair growing on your legs!
Some more, some less, some just on their shanks, others on their thighs too. All combinations
are possible, it is all fine!
*** hair grows on the mount of Venus, the outer labias, the area between the ***
and the *** (perineum), around the *** and between the buttocks. It is natural to grow
hair! It is natural to have a different colour than the one on your head! The *** hair
can be accompanied by some hair on your belly, between your *** and, very often, around
your nipples. None of your friends talk about this? You can comfort her, it is perfectly
natural! Hair grows in a similar way on girls and boys bodies. You don't need to be ashamed
by the hair growing!
About a year after your *** hair started growing, hair will grow on your armpit, first
like soft little hair, then like thick, darker and longer hair.
When I was in sixth grade, me and my deskmate started to spy on each other to see which
one grows a moustache. And, guess what happened? We both did! So, if you have hair growing
on your upper lip, donít worry! It happens to all of us, there is no anomaly! And I,
while writing the text for this video, rolled my moustache like a real writer. Some girls
grow hair on their chin. And this is also normal. Some girls prefer to remove the hair
from some parts of their bodies, if they decide they don't like it, and that is fine! It
is ok if you prefer not to remove your hair, and many girls (and most boys) don't. I say
this because, for the majority of the girls, there is this pressure to remove their body
hair and this is pretty unfair. As unfair as it is to mock a boy with long hair. Every
person is entitled to make decisions about their own looks. Imagine what would be like
if girls and women would leave their hair grow: all girls would find out that other
girls have hair on their bodies too. You have hair on your body too?
None of them would be ashamed anymore, because everyone would know it is normal to have some
hair on their face and body! We would all be more self-confident and know
that nothing is wrong with us, we would save a lot of money, and the cosmetician or hair
stylist job and all the products industry behind them would dissapear!
***! Now you don't have them, now you do! I know, it is weird and you can't control
what's going on. It's like growing another hand. Only, in some weird way, a lot of people
seem more interested in your *** than would be interested in you having three hands.
It is annyong, yes! We will talk about the first encounter with the male glances a different
time. About the ***:
Why do *** grow? Biologically, they grow because they will
allow you to breastfeed your baby, if you will want to breastfeed them and if you will
want to have a baby.
How do *** grow? First, a sort of lump appears under your ***,
then, gradually, the whole area tissue starts growing. I remember I told my parents about
that lump and we went to see a doctor about it, because I was scared about it being an
infection. It wasn't that and it was all fine. If you are worried, talk to your parents and go see a doctor. One thing
that will change is the size and colour of the areola and the nipples.
It is ok if a breast is smaller than the other, they donít grow evenly. At 17, when the grows
stops, the *** will be of a similar size. Nobody, and I mean nobody, has perfectly equal
***. Not even your hands, feet, ears or eyes are perfectly symetrical. The boys testicles
are not identical either.
Even after puberty, *** will change their shape and size, according to the changes a
womanís body goes through: age related changes, weight changes, hormonal changes, pregnancy
or breastfeeding related changes. While you grow, and your *** develop, they can be
sensitive, painful or itchy. The author of an essay I have read, suggested
to name the hair around the nipples Çthe *** eyelashesí.
As I mentioned, a lot of girls have hair around the nipples, some have hair between ***.
Why doesnít anyone talk about it nobody knows, because nobody talks about it! I know, I know,
I know, weíre running in circles. About the *** anatomy and how do they work, we will
talk soon!
*** is the girls external *** organ. As do the boys external genitalia (the ***
and the testicles), the girls external organes also change during puberty. During childhood,
the female genitalia is small and you can only see the outer labias and the line between
them. The *** is also small, the only female organ destined for pleasure and sensitive
to touching. During puberty, the *** and the inner labias grow and become more
visible. Inner labias can be framed by the outer ones, or can come out of the outer ones.
They can be short or long, rugged or smooth. All possibilities are valid, because there
is no *** like others, just like fingerprints. The colour of the *** becomes darker during
puberty. Because the *** bone is growing, the outer labias move lower, and on the ***
bone there is the tissue area called the mount of Venus. And, not last, the *** hair appears.
The menstrual cycle starts during puberty, when the ovaries grow and the ovules grow
out of folicules. The first ovulation takes places about 2 years after the *** start
growing, between 9 and 16. 10-14 days after the first ovulation, the first ***
happens. VERY IMPORTANT! During this 2 weeks opening between the first ovulation and the
first *** it is possible, in theory, to get pregnant, because your body released
an ovule which could be fertilized.
During puberty, you grow more and faster than in any other period of your life. At the end,
from a childís body, you will have an adultís body. It is not going to be easy to grow like
this, all at once. Due to the rapid growth, I developed stretch marks on my thighs. You
will become taller and your hips will become wider. Boys hips also grow wider, but itís
more difficult to notice, because their shoulders also grow wider. Your muscle mass and weight
will grow, because, without the fat, which is, in fact, an energy deposit, you canít
have a menstrual cycle or develop corectly. So, the fact that you gain some weight during
puberty is a normal and positive thing! Your bones and internal organes (such as the heart
and the liver) will weigh in more. Your face bones will become wider and your child expression
will change into an adult one. We will talk more about 90-60-90 and Çperfect
sizesí for girls and boys and the pressure we all feel because of it. It might be of
consolation that when I say Çyouí in this video, I mean you and you and you. Because
every person needs to go through all these stages to become an adult. There is no detour
and thatís very good: to grow up is a very interesting journey. After puberty, all things
will fall into place, I promise! And Barbie promises too, I taught mine to
tell the truth!
