- See that's the weird thing about me, is I've
thought about my kids since I was a kid.
And that's why I take it so serious
and I'm so involved with them.
I was at every doctor's appointment and every shot,
every everything, because I've thought
about my kids since I was a kid.
The greatest impact I could have on the world is raising
good kids. And I could be good, I'd be great at that.
Because that's what you're here for, you know.
You're here to make the world a better place,
you're here to give back. But the next generation has to
build on what you did.
Football is something that I felt like I was born to do,
and I was blessed with ability and the great fortune
to be able to play it professionally.
And I'm thankful for that, and I take that very serious,
and I want to be one of the best to ever do it.
But in the end being a great father - it's like the best
thing you could ever be ... and watch my son and daughter
grow up to be incredible people and watch them make a
greater impact on this world than I ever could.
And I think that you gotta give 'em direction, and you
gotta have a plan, and you gotta be really meticulous
with how you raise them, and how you speak to them,
and what you show them. I want to raise a great man that
will have a profound impact on this world. And, you know,
if he plays football or plays sports and is good at that,
then, you know, that'll be cool. That'll be fine. But it
would be such a small part of the greater good and
greater human being that he and my daughter
hopefully will become.
I'm growing up in Watts and South Central and I'm like, Man,
I want my kid to have this, I want to make sure I don't do
this with him. Like, you know, you think about all the bad
things and good things in your life. There are certain
pillars that are required no matter what, you know,
no matter who you are, no matter who raised you.
You don't have to be a football player or athlete.
You can be an engineer or a scientist, the president.
Whatever you want to be, I don't care. But you're going
to be the best at what you do. You're going to be....
You're going to work really hard. You know, I can't
take the test for you. I can't live the life for you.
But I can just give you the foundation that you....
that will allow you to be successful. Hopefully
the things I've been taught will be enough,
and things I learned along the way.
