Hello, crocheteros! How are you?
Today we'll learn to make this shawl I'm wearing,
it's a triangular shawl, as you can see,
and I guarantee you it's super easy to make,
I chose a very simple stitch.
In this first part, we'll only learn how to make
the body of the shawl,
and in the second part, that will be uploaded next week,
we'll learn to make the edge.
As some of you know because I told you on Instagram,
this is a shawl I did
inspired in this shawl that my grandma did,
and for the edge, my grandma chose solomon knot
so next week we'll learn to do that edge in solomon knot.
As you can see it is a very simple shawl,
but at the same time it's very versatile.
You can use it for elegant occasions,
or casual occasions, depending on the way we wear it
and the clothes we're wearing that day.
My grandma chose a super thin thread,
and since I don't like to crochet with such thin threads,
I made it with a thicker thread, also to put my personal mark,
and the thread is this one, it's a thread for 5-6 mm needle,
that mixes 2 threads, one is a matte cotton thread,
and another is a tulle thread a little bit shiny
that gives our shawl that satin look.
If you like this thread, you can get it in Media Luna
my yarn boutique, the link will be up here
with shipping all over Spain and Europe.
It's available in kit to make this shawl,
there are 5 balls, which is 250 grs,
we'll also need a 6 mm hook,
also included in the kit.
Well I feel like I'm talking too much,
let's watch the tutorial,
but before don't forget to subscribe if you haven't,
that way we'll be in touch every week,
and you'll know when I upload the second part of this shawl.
Let's watch the tutorial!
Okay, we start our shawl with a slipknot in the hook,
and here we'll make 6 chains.
Now in the first chain of all, in the first hole,
we'll insert the hook, and we'll do 1 sc.
ONE SINGLE CROCHET IN THE FIRST CHAIN
We'll have like this small circle.
Now we'll do one chain, we twist that circle...
...and inside the circle, we'll make 7 sc.
Directly inside the circle, there we make one,
two, and so until having seven single crochet.
For the next row, we'll do 4 chains,
FOUR CHAINS
we twist our project,
and here we won't work on the first top loop,
because it's as if it was already done with these chains.
We'll also skip the second top loop, and in the third one,
in the third stitch, we're going to do 1 dc.
ONE DOUBLE CROCHET IN THE THIRD TOP LOOP
And here we have our first window, for the next one
we'll do one chain...
...we'll skip 1 stitch, from the ones on the bottom,
this was the last one we worked on, we skip one,
and in the next one, we make another dc.
SKIP 1 STITCH ONE DC IN THE NEXT ONE
And here we have our second window,
we'll make a third one to finish the row, we do 1 chain up,
we skip one stitch below, and we make 1 dc in the next one.
This would be the last available stitch.
And like that we finish this row, where there are 3 windows.
For the next row, we'll do one chain up,
we twist our project.
To work over the windows, we'll work in the top loops
of the dc that would be these ones,
and directly in the hole of the window, where there's a chain,
there we'll also work directly in the holes.
So we start our row with 1 inc
in the first available stitch, a sc increase.
We do 1 sc, and another sc in the same hole,
then we do a normal sc directly in the hole of the window,
then in the next available stitch,
that's the top loop of a dc, there we make another inc.
ONE INC OVER THE NEXT DC
Then in the hole of the window, one single crochet alone,
then another inc in the top loop of this dc.
ONE INC OVER THE NEXT DC
And here we meet the 4 chains going up we did in the last row.
Of these 4 chains, the first 3 are as if they were a dc
and the 4th is as
one of the chains that forms the windows.
Okay? So here we'll do one sc inside the hole...
ONE SC IN THE LAST WINDOW
...and then in the 3rd chain,
now inserting the hook in that 3rd chain that works as a dc,
there we'll make 1 increase.
One, and two sc in the same hole.
Don't worry, it will be easier with time,
this is only the start to be able to form this triangle.
And so we'll alternate rows of windows and sc, windows and sc.
So the next row, that would be of windows,
that's the way all window rows will start from now on.
We'll do 4 chains...
...we twist...
...and here we count one, two and three stitches,
and in that 3rd sc, we make one double crochet.
We have our first window.
And we continue doing windows as we did previously.
One chain, we skip one of the stitches below,
and in the next one, double crochet.
KEEP MAKING WINDOWS
One chain, we skip one of the stitches below,
and in the next one, double crochet.
And so until finishing the row, here we have it close the end,
but each time it will be bigger,
we'll have to do a bigger amount of windows,
but it's always the same,
that's why this stitch is super easy,
because we barely have to think, we do it unconsciously.
Here we work in the last stitch.
And after the window rows, it will always follow a sc row.
For the sc rows, we'll always start with 1 chain,
we twist our project, and we'll make them this way:
We'll always do 1 inc in the first available stitch,
and in the second dc, okay?
One inc here, then 1 sc and then one increase here.
Then we'll continue doing sc, we'll see it now,
but just so you know, and in the last 2 dc,
remember these chains are as a last dc,
here we'll also make an increase.
One inc here, then a sc, and one inc here.
Remember that it's always in the 1st and 2nd,
and in the second to last and the last one.
So we start here in the first stitch with one inc out of sc.
ONE INCREASE OVER THE 1ST DC
Then sc directly in the hole, in the window,
and then in the second dc, there we also do 1 inc.
ONE INC OVER THE 2ND DC
Now there won't be more inc, just these two
until we get to the end.
In the centre there are no inc, we just make 1 sc
in the window's hole, and then in the stitch in the top loop.
Hole...
...just one stitch...
...top loop, just one stitch...
...hole, just one stitch.
And we see the second to last dc,
so there we'll make again inc.
ONE INC OVER THE SECOND TO LAST DC
Then we make 1 sc alone in the hole,
as if we were working that chain of the window,
and then in the 3rd chain,
directly inside the chain we do 1 inc
because this is like the last dc.
Here we make 1 inc out of sc, and it's done,
we have our row of sc completed.
Now we just have to repeat
the same instructions again and again,
until having the size we wish for our triangle.
This triangle is the half of our shawl,
the shawl is composed by 2 identical triangles.
So I'll do the repetition again, but later I'll leave you alone
'cause it's always doing the same.
So now we'd have to do a window row that's very easy,
we start with 4 chains, we twist our project,
here we count 1, 2 and 3 and there we do our 1st dc.
We have our 1st window, and we continue making windows.
Chain, we skip one stitch below, and in the next one, dc.
And go on like we did in the other rows, until the end.
Here we've done the last chain, we have left the last dc here,
we've closed that last window, and now we start again a sc row.
We started with 1 chain,
we twist our project, and remember where the inc go.
In the first top loop, in the second top loop,
in the second to last top loop,
and in the last one, that are the 3 chains that count as a dc.
So we start here with our first inc,
one and two over the first dc.
Then we have window, where we do 1 sc,
then again top loop where we make 1 inc,
done, we have the inc of the beginning,
we continue making sc to the other side,
until getting to the end,
here sc in window, and sc in top loop.
And here we're in the second to last top loop,
the second to last dc and the last one,
here are inc and inc, so we do 1 inc in the second to last,
one, and two in the same hole,
then 1 sc alone in the window,
as if we were working on those stitches of the window,
and then in the 3rd chain, inside the 3rd chain,
we make the last increase.
We've finished that sc row,
and as I told you, just keep repeating the instructions
again and again, and this will grow almost without noticing it.
Okay, here I have my triangle, with the measurements I wished.
Here I used 2 balls, that's 100 gr of thread for the triangle.
Remember that this is the half of the shawl,
we have 60 cm here, and 60 cm on the other side.
Remember that as much as we can,
we'll try to make this a triangle rectangle.
That in the corner where we started,
here is a 90 angle, a rect angle.
And we have to make another identical,
that we'll place on the other side,
so here we can see the shawl's shape backwards,
this would be the part of the neck,
and this would be the part that goes down to the waist.
And we'll pay attention
on putting both triangles on the same side.
A side where the sc look more sunken,
and the dc more protruding,
so it doesn't matter the side we chose,
but make both sides show the same face
so that our shawl looks even.
And when we have our 2 triangles,
we'll pass to sew them in the centre.
We'll simply cut a very long piece of thread,
enough to sew all this,
we'll literally sew it with a wool needle.
So you calculate that it will be enough to sew in zig zag.
When we cut the thread, what we'll do first of all
s to finish passing it through this hole.
Done, here we can thread it in the wool needle,
and now we'll simply sew in zig zag,
make it not so notorious,
SEW UP THE SEWING (AND IF YOU WISH, HIDE THE THREADS)
Okay, crocheteros, that's it for today,
remember in this first part
we just learned to do the base of our shawl,
we haven't learned to do the edge,
so I'll see you next week in the second part of this tutorial
to learn to make 3 different types of edge for our shawl,
or for other projects we have.
Thank you so much for being always there,
and for subscribing if you haven't done it yet.
