I'm Lee, your travel guide, and consultant for Centre Holidays Burnaby.
No matter how, or where, you wish to travel I would like to make your trip as memorable,
and, comfortable, as possible. For all your travel plans, give me a call
or drop me an E When it's time for me to travel, Cancun is
one of my favourite destinations Today's video is a mixture of photographs
from the North East tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. But first - a word from out sponsors.
Just kidding. There are many ways to get to Cancun.
A day excursion as part of a cruise to Cozumel, from Miami, Florida aboard the MSC Divina.
As part of a cruise to Cozumel, out of Tampa, Florida aboard the NCL Sun.
The Yucatan Peninsula borders on the second largest reef in the world.
The waters around Cancun are too shallow for cruise ships so they dock at the island of
Cozumel. You could take a bus, or drive, from; Belize,
Guatemala, Canada or the US of A. You could fly in from anywhere in the world.
Cancun has an international airport. Once in Cancun you could stay at the All inclusive
Hard Rock Hotel Cancun, in the heart of the Hotel Zone or you could stay at the Majestic
J. W. Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa, also in the centre of the Zona Hotelera.
Whether as a day tourist or a hotel guest all beaches in Mexico are public.
Feel free to walk the shore and explore. You might see a turtle, a sun bathing iguana,
or some beautiful private residences. Wear your swim suit, when you get too warm,
jump in the water. Across the street from the hotels in the hotel
zone, is the Laguna, you don't want to swim there.
Think `crocodile'. Closer to town there is a channel that eventually
goes under the street to Playa Tortuga. There you can go for a swim or catch a tour
boat to Isla Mujeres. the island of women. The channel is posted, `No swimming' but there
is a lovely little park and the locals swim there anyway.
At this point the city centre is only a short bus ride away.
The local busses run through the hotel zone every 10 to 15 minutes and only cost 4 or
5 Pesos. In Cancun itself there are several markets
to visit. Such as market 32, just off Av. Cedro or Mercado
28 at 28 Av. Xel-ha.
For Brand name items there is a Canadian style mall, Plaza Las America, with a Sears, and
several other American chain stores. Further afield you will find a Costco and
a Wal-Mart. Sometimes I think I am still in Vancouver.
For lunch, if you don't want Mexican cuisine, Cancun has a small Chinatown.
In the evenings, on weekends there are two el centros to visit.
Each offers entertainment. The main el centro offers more in the variety
of foods. If you prefer restaurant style cuisine there
is a late night street of restaurants not too far away.
You have been watching an introduction to Cancun, Mexico.
