What's up guys? I'm Cameron with DS2DIO 360. Last week I got to see this unbelievable
team of sign spinning dancers at a basketball game.
So I came here to the park to learn
more about it. Brought my handy sign. Let's go. I am here in Burbank, CA learning how
to spin a sign. Chris here is going to instruct me along with all these peoples how to do
some amazing tricks. Oh, thanks. I get to wear the shirt, too. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
CHRISTIAN: Down! CAMERON: What dance do you think this is most like? CHRISTIAN: Breakdancing.
CAMERON: Breakdancing? That's pretty cool. CHRISTIAN: What you're going to do is you're just going
to go over one foot. Just flip to the other side and it will land behind your legs.
CAMERON: Everybody keeps saying that the most important thing to do is smile and point, but I'm pretty
convinced that I need a little bit more talent. Whaaaaat. Do you think say sign spinning is a
type of dance? KEVIN: I would say in its own way it is. CAMERON: Did you hurt yourself
a lot when you first started? KEVIN: I've actually hit myself in the head pretty hard.
CAMERON: Which trick? KEVIN: I tried to do the headspin and it just went off and clocked me.
How do you freestyle? JOSHUA: Um, you take all the different tricks you
know and you try to put them into a combo. The key to it is the transitions.
CAMERON: When you're trying to create a new move, what do you try to keep in mind? JOSHUA: Which
direction you're going to point your arrow in. When you do a throw, depending on where
you point the tip of the sign is how it will flip.
CHRISTIAN: All right, so let's get in
a circle. CAMERON: I'm in the group. CHRISTIAN: Freestyle circle right here.
CAMERON: For 40 seconds
we have to freestyle in a circle and stay smiling and pointing. Now it's game on. Wooooooo!
Okay, so that was the best class ever! High-five! Thank you so much for letting me crash that.
CHRISTIAN: You're welcome. CAMERON: So how did I do? If you could grade me out of A, B, C, D, E,
F? CHRISTIAN: A "B." CAMERON: I got a "B!" How creative is sign spinning do you think?
CHRISTIAN: Every sign spinner in the world, because this is an international advertising
company, spins different. Nobody spins the same. CAMERON: So like dance, there's
a lot of freestyle. CHRISTIAN: Yah. It's easier for dancers. Everyone on 3! 1, 2, 3, Arrow!
So I thought sign spinning was a type of dance. Are there other things that you
guys think are dance that are nontraditional? I wanna know. Leave them in the comments below
and maybe we'll do a show about it. Until next time, later guys!
