Kate, I believe this is your card.
It is, indeed.
You're collecting sounds from all over the world.
We are, indeed, and...
Guess what the Open University has?
- People all around the world. - Yes.
- Brilliant. Can we use them? - Yeah, course.
And they're smart enough to actually be able to record and archive sounds.
We like that. Maybe they'd like a thing that we're running
called Desperately Seeking Sounds.
It's kind of like Lonely Hearts with sound,
so if there is a sound from your childhood,
maybe your granny used to take you onto the carousel on the pier
and you want to hear that sound again,
or maybe you've moved cities
and you're missing the sound of your home town,
if you email us, saveoursounds@bbc.com,
tell us what sound it is that you're missing and why,
and then we're gonna try and branch out,
get somebody else in our sort of network
to out and record that sound for you,
and then we can do a bit of audio matchmaking
and reconnect you with that sound.
That's brilliant, and they can also
submit their own sounds to the archive?
Absolutely, everyone can do that on the website,
which is: bbcworldservice.com/saveoursounds
And you can add your sounds into our interactive map. It's lots of fun.
And if they wanna follow you on Twitter?
You should all do that. Follow us on Twitter:
@bbc_sos
- Save our Sounds. - And come on, plug yourself.
And me, I'm Radio Kate, @RadioKate on Twitter.
- Thank you very much. - Thank you.
