in the series of read explain body language objective
obviously songs binghamton
usually this video phone
five hundred breakdowns here
What's up guys welcome back to another episode of mastering body language
with me the body language noob
and if you haven't heard we are part of the nonverbal noob army
you can check us out
on twitter
at non verbal noob
you can also check out the blog that I
post to after each video I write a blog for the visual learners as well
and if you enjoy this video don't forget to leave a like
before you leave
even if you don't watch the whole thing leave a like, I'm just kidding
but basically
this video is another body language noob breakdown video
and we're gonna be talking about
analyzing
lance armstrong
an interview he gave
on ESPN
denying the fact that he used steroids
so if you'd like to follow along you can click right here take you straight to the video
where i looked at
basically wrote down notes for
each part where I saw specific body language that I thought was necessary to bring up
and bob i've never been in a room where someone looks straight across the table at you
right in the eye and she goes
i hate him
and uh...
in other than that I can't really elaborate
like to take you through some other issues maybe give you a chance to put it on
the record and i'll go back to nineteen ninety five one of your
after Lance Armstrong answers the question
uh... the interviewer looks down at his notes
Lance does a snake
snakes tongue
or tongue jut
kinda sticks his tongue out at em
basically, it's sorta like a Ha Ha I got you
it's funny that
as soon as the interviewer looks up
the tongue jut
shoots back into his mouth
and he starts doing the lip gloss smearing
so he's doing the lip gloss smearing
and that actually turns into a pacifier, he's biting chewing on the inside of his lip
because it's a high stressed evironment high stress interview
it's kinda cool to look at it because the interviewer looks down
Lance Armstrong shoots out the tongue jut
shows HA HA I deceived you
I fooled you
soon as the interviewers head comes back up tongue shoots back in
tries to play it off with the lip gloss smearing
then switches over to the
chewing on the lip because now the next question is coming and he's trying to
he's using a pacifier to calm himself down
i'll just reminded him this was a three-week trial all of this evidence
was pretty
presented to three
independent arbitrators this all came out of the bonus case which
uh... which i was owed five in
at about two twenty five
we see it lance do sort of a
a claw gesture which is sort of an alpha
an alpha type gesture
usually a claw type gesture
indicates a lot of coaching
and it you can tell that lance
does certain
body language gestures
kinda make itself seem like he's knows what he's talking about things like that
so he has had coaching you can tell
and that is indicated here when he does the claw gesture
at two twenty nine again
he'll remind us
thanks lance
glad you're
reminding me again
million dollars and I'll just again million dollars and I'll just again remind you million dollars again
remind you million dollars and I'll just again remind you
that the rewards for seven point five million so fifty percent
over and above what they owed
at about 2:50
we seen an upside down U
on the stand unit do you think steven's schwart has any axe to grind with lance
armstrong
mister Walsh said absolutely not has no personal vendetta nothing against 'em
you may have to pause it
basically shows slight discomfort
and slight arrogance really doesn't care for the guy he's talking
about
and he actually does this gesture twice
pretty quickly
and then you can tell why he doesn't
like the guy once he keeps
once he finishes what he's saying
but this kinda indicates his attitude towards the person he's talking about before
he actually comes out and says it
so it's kind of revealing his true intentions before he's actually saying it verbally
at about 3:28 we see a
Lance Armstrong licking his lips kind of like
postal team in the issue of doping
uh... you called him up... that is a pacifying behavior you actually see him do
this quite a bit
throughout the interview
and he's basically just trying to calm himself down it's a very high stress interview
a lot of things are going on
a lot of people have been accusing him of things so
obviously he's going to feel a little bit stressed
alot of money to make your life miserable
not true Steven or Prentice Stefan I think
was his name
at about 3:38 we'll see Lance answer another question
he'll say no not true and
He's very confident when he
responds to
this question
and his answer is congruent
what he's saying verbally matches up
with his body language no not true shaking his head no
so that's really good sign he's probably telling the truth
or that specific
answer has been rehearsed
a lot
but I kinda feel like he's being truthful in this situation and
and it's always good to look and see which situations this person is being truthful and what areas seem to be
a little iffy
on whether or not they're telling the truth
that way you can get kind of a baseline
how they look being truthful
how they look not being truthful
at about 3:56 in the interview we see lance armstrong
kind of do
a tight lipped
gesture
I wouldn't say it was a smile
but it was more
clamping his lips shut and
i kinda feel like he did this gesture
right after saying quite a bit honestly
with his answer
it's kind of his mind telling him okay
try not to reveal too much information
because when someone
reveals too much information
well then you can get caught so i think he was trained with a lot of body language
coaches and other interviewers
professionals and things like that
to not say too much and he kinda goes on a little rant at this point
and then right after it kind of
clamps his mouth closed
that's the first and only interaction I had with him
telling himself
hey don't you don't have to say a whole lot
so that's what I kind of got from that gesture
i would like to hear you guys opinions on these gestures so leave some
comments uh... appreciate it
it'll help all of the non verbal army grow together
at about 7:20-7:23 there is actually kinda funny because he is like
we had a thousand lawsuits against us never lost
then he immediately goes for another pacifier of licking his lips
thousand cases
never lost
ok never lost.. pacifier!
you be the judge
and our average our batting average in all of them
is a thousand
we've never lost
uh... it still to be heard there was a lawsuit britain right
at about 7:27 we have more clamped lips don't say too much
I have to pacify
he's obviously very very stressed for this interview before we won every round
pretty much but let me ask you about by a man who made news with the international
olympic and
as Joe Navarro would say I would really love to interview
uh... lance armstrong
with his full body exposed so we can look at his legs
is arms
his entire body
and then be the judge
it's definitely a lot of high stress in this interview
it's giving away
a lot of easy pickups
for a body language person on
seeing all these pacifiers happen and seeing how stressed this person is answering the
questions
he's had thousands of lawsuits you'd think he'd be a little more
less stressed but this is obviously something that
gained a lot of attention
from the media and from everyone
all across the world
at about
8:07 we see another tongue jut
and it's weird because he's like
we're sitting here talking about
unethical
behavior
sticks his tongue out hahah
and then continues his sentence
I mean come on
if that's not an obvious tongue jut
please someone tell me what this is
we're sitting here having a conversation about unethical behavior now
there's two people involved this process there is there
lance armstrong is having fun
he's stressed
but he's having fun he's enjoying this he's enjoying lying to people
that's the vibe I get from this interview
two tongue juts
lots and lots of arrogance you'll notice that in a lot of his interviews
another one
another interview he has I think is with Oprah
and that's even worse
Lance
you're a cocky mother f---
well that ends another episode of Body Language Noob Breakdown series
