We are with Peugeot 3008.
The 3008, which is the compact crossover model of the Peugeot with its renewed outlook, is our test drive car for this week.
Let’s see if the 3008 has features that will shine out in its class?
Let’s analyze it together...
The 3008 has been face lifted recently and attained more youthful appearance.
Completely modified front bumper with wide air intake, new headlamps with LED and chromium details are the main innovations.
When viewed from the side there is no change except the new designed wheel rims.
At the rear the taillights with LED resembling lion’s paw stands out.
While we are on the subject of the rear it will not do, not to mention the boot of the 3008.
By virtue of the double lid boot that is offered only on 3008 in this class, it is easy to load.
Besides due to changeable floor you can use 512-liter boot capacity more functionally.
The cockpit of the 3008 is quite different than its rivals in this class.
Although the 3008 has been reproduced from the 308 of the previous generation its interior is different from that too.
Driver oriented, horizontally positioned and with contact breaker type buttons used on mid-console looks appealing.
To reach and use the buttons are easy.
You are able to reach the multimedia screen, music system, navigation and trip computer over the console easily.
Apart from the sufficient areas offered for your small items,
there are generous spaces in the armrest and door bins for your bigger items.
The quality of the materials and workmanship is at an acceptable level of the class standards.
The living space offered at the rear is quite large.
Good knee and headroom is offered.
Furthermore, since there is no transmission tunnel the third person can sit here in comfort.
Let’s consider the engine and driving features of the 3008.
The 3008 is imported to our country with one engine and gearbox twosome.
The 1.6-liter diesel engine develops 115 HP and 270 Nm of torque and it has 6-speed robotized automatic gearbox.
I’ve tested this engine previously on the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso.
The engine’s power is good and it satisfies the expectations completely.
However, even though the automated manual robotized gearbox has been accelerated it still is jerky in changes.
If you are an accustomed driver to this then there is no problem.
But if you like classical automatic gearbox unfortunately it is impossible for you to be happy with this gearbox.
To be able to change the gears from the pedals behind the steering wheel
apart from the gear lever in my opinion is quite good specialty.
The 3008 also pulls away from its rivals at the compact crossover class by traction system called ‘Grip Control’.
Despite the fact that the 3008 is a front wheel drive car,
here you can move the 3008 without difficulty by 5 different modes on different surfaces.
The 1.6-liter diesel engine of the PSA Group makes an impression by performance and frugal potential.
I’ve been with this car for a week and have covered 800 km.
I’ve even driven to Kartalkaya Ski Resort at that time.
At the moment the trip computer indicates 6,2-liter fuel consumption averages.
In my opinion this value is not bad at all.
The 3008 is not very assertive about driving comfort.
Although the suspension comfort on highways is good the suspensions slog away to filter impacts at rough surfaces.
The suspensions work noisily and this decreases the comfort level.
The 3008 shows reasonable performance at handling.
There is no bother at its insulation. At normal speeds road and wind noise do not penetrate into the cockpit.
The 3008 with its different interior and exterior design is able to address the people
who search different alternatives at the compact crossover class.
