You can't see it from there but some people looking at me through the
window there I think I'm like maybe crashing an alumni event but technically
I'm an alumnus.
Hey there Mountaineers, my name is Ahmed Haque. I'm a senior chemical engineering
student from Bridgeport, West Virginia and this weekend I'll be graduating and
wrapping up my first four years here at WVU. It's going to be a bittersweet experience
but this is a really special moment for every Mountaineer.
So without further ado let's get graduated!
*alarm goes off*
It's graduation day
Let's do this!
Okay, now I need to remember how to tie a bow tie.
what do you think I think it's alright I think it's okay it's not bad I mean I
don't, I don't know how President Gee does it.
This is probably like my tenth time trying.
now I've got my bowtie on it's time to get ready and put on everything else.
And with that, I think we're all good
We're here at the WVU Coliseum this is where our graduation
event will be, starting here in the few hours. I'm here early to check in.
It's all hitting me now really how cool this moment's gonna be.
You don't know how accurate this is so many late nights studying.
I'm here in the basketball training facility and look who I found Coach Hugs himself.
Gonna miss me? Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm gonna miss him too.
I'm here with Dr. Morris from the engineering department, any words very graduate today?
*Dr. Morris* Enjoy your day, you've earned it and don't forget you're always a Mountaineer.
Always a Mountaineer all right thanks Dr. Morris.
Now comes the hardest test for us engineering students, how well we can
form a straight line.
Let's Go!
*crowd* Mountaineers!
We're here, we're inside the Coliseum.
It's really starting to hit me now. I've been waiting for this all my life,
been waiting a long time for this.
Yeah we're all like pretty excited, we don't know what's gonna happen
*girl* What's going to happen is we're going to graduate!
Oh yeah, that's a good answer.
This is the moment we've all been waiting for graduation. Feels like four
years later it's the end of one journey beginning of new journey.
I can't describe how I feel, I guess a mixture of happiness, sadness, seeing these
people go. I'm gonna miss your faces. Going to miss all these people. I'll miss this guy too.
Will you miss me? *A little bit* A little bit? All right I'll take it. But yeah we're so excited here.
It's going to be an awesome experience. I'll walk across the stage and give
President Gordon Gee a big hug.
*Announcer* Ahmed Abdul Haque, chemical engineering, WVU outstanding senior.
*President Gee* Love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and live your life to your higher purpose.
*President Gee* And with all the rights, honors and privileges appertaining thereto, you may move your
tassels to the left side of your cap
*crowd cheers*
*singing Country Roads*
Well, it's finally official. I'm now a graduate of West Virginia University,
having received my degree in chemical engineering with a minor in French
language and a certificate in biomedical engineering. And what better place to
kind of wrap up for this video than here on the Erickson Alumni Center, now the new home
of all alumni of West Virginia University.
To me, receiving my diploma represents the culmination of four years of hard work and great experiences
and I owe everything to the fantastic peers, faculty members and mentors I found here at the University.
Wherever your travels take you, wherever your goals in life
take you, you will always, always be a Mountaineer and you will always, always
have country roads to take you home. Thanks so much for following along
My name's Ahmed Haque and until I see you next time
Let's Go, Mountaineers!
