Hi there. My name is Kenton Yeager. I run the master's program in theatrical lighting design here at the University
of Tennessee, Knoxville. And my big idea is the one-to-six scale theater laboratory. This is a fully working
theater you can put in front of your classroom. It's designed to accelerate the education
of all aspects of theater. We use it to teach lighting, scenery, costumes, directing, stage
management. media, sound design. We have lighting packages for it, we have media packages for it.
We're trying to be able to get it out there in the classrooms so you can have your students immediately
access a real working theater, without needing the theater to do that. Students just can't get up on
ladders anymore - they're not allowed. Here, students can actually touch and learn to hang the lights,
the sound systems, work it all. We have commuter consoles, moving lights, they can learn
all aspects of theater in a safe classroom environment. I think it's a better way to teach theater.
