UK introduces military redundancy program. The British Ministry of Defense has announced
that its armed forces will shed 17,000 posts over the next four years as military spending
is decreased by around US$8 billion. The first wave of redundancies is planned for September
2011, with the Army, including the Nepalese Brigade of Gurkhas, the Royal Navy and Royal
Air Force all reducing staffs to achieve the overall goal. Arrangements are also being
made to time the departures for the least impact to people's lives.
We thank the British government for this peace-advancing decision. May we soon enjoy the freedoms of
a world that thrives in harmony and happiness, as the valued individuals who once served
in the military contribute to the nation in other uplifting ways
