Welcome back.
We’re playing Proximity in Data Games.
I've already played three balls.
The question is, “How do I decide how far to pull back?"
"How hard to push the ball?"
You’ve probably gotten pretty good at guessing, but let’s try using data.
If you don’t have a graph already, click the graph button to make one.
Let’s use it to figure out how hard to push.
This graph shows how the distance the ball goes
Depends on how hard you push it.
The harder you push, the farther it goes.
But how far do we want the ball to go?
It might help to measure.
See the little ruler icon up here?
Click it to get a ruler.
Click and drag to measure how far the ball is from the center of the goal.
It also might help to put a line on the graph.
Use the gear menu and choose “Show Movable Line.”
I can drag parts of the line to change it.
As I drag the line, the equation for the line changes automatically.
That equation can help me decide how hard to push.
Also in this gear menu,
If I think the line has to go through the origin,
I can choose "Lock Intercept at Zero."
See if you can figure out how to get an even better score.
Good Luck!
