When the first gen Kia Sorento was introduced in 2002, it was a sensation.
It's a large, affordable SUV, resulting in long waiting lists.
Grey import boomed. The car was very popular.
A new gen Sorento came a few years later.
Due to the competition it's no longer popular.
There's a wide gap between the two generations Sorento.
The first was an offroader for onroad use as well.
This gen Sorento is a softroader, or a taller station wagon.
4WD is optional, but you can still drive it on grass.
4WD and automatic gearbox are optional.
There's one big problem for this video. This is the most boring car.
Not the car itself, but the conditions.
Kia gives a 7 year warranty since 2010.
This car is from early 2010, so you'll have a 7 year warranty.
In those 7 years strange malfunctions will be fixed by the Kia dealer.
Some problems can be found, such as brake electronics.
The only trouble with that is you'll have to go to the dealer.
Hopefully he'll serve good coffee, but it won't cost you anything.
Not everything is covered by warranty.
No worn parts such as tires, brakes, clutch and shocks.
However, a broken shock absorber is covered.
If it malfunctions because you fly over speed bumps, it's not covered.
Not many Sorentos are for sale. Only 65.
Most are on gasoline, though the diesel is nicer.
It has more torque and horsepower.
The cars are well equiped with leather upholstery, satnav and parking sensors.
A manual is available, but this one has an automatic gearbox.
It runs on gasoline, if you haven't heard already.
According to Dutch standards you'll have a fullsize SUV.
A lot of space and high seating.
With 4WD you can take it offroad, but this one has FWD.
It's cheaper and more economical, which has its advantages.
When choosing 4WD (and this goes for all 4WD SUVs), ...
look underneath the car. If it's used offroad, it can be damaged.
Most are harmless, but some can be quite annoying.
Because so little can be said about this gen Sorento, ...
we'll look back at the first gen.
More are for sale and they're a lot cheaper, but they're really used.
It's a reliable car, but it has some issues.
The coating in the fuel tank can chip, clogging the fuel filter.
The A/C has a mind of its own.
You indicate the temperature rather than it'll try keeping that temp.
But, we're talking about this gen Sorento. The A/C works great.
Even in the sun I can drive comfortably. Especially with the 7 year warranty.
This doesn't mean it has a low cost of ownership.
It's a heavy SUV with low fuel economy.
Road tax is higher, especially for the diesel.
SUV tires are more expensive and won't last as long ...
because the weight and hight of the car pushes in the corners.
Did I mention it has a 7 year warranty? 7 years!
Now we'll go collect our commission at Kia.
