Hello and welcome, my name is Scott Morris. I'm the Institute's Chief Human Resources
Officer. I'd like to share some information with you about Open Enrollment and some important
changes that are happening this year that you need to be aware of. Now as you probably
already know, Open Enrollment is the once a year opportunity for each of us to consider
our health care needs and those of our family, and to make choices about the benefits plans
that are available to us as employees of Georgia Tech.
This year, plans such as the dental plan, the life insurance plan, the vision plan,
the disability plan and other plans; plans that we call voluntary benefits, are being
consolidated into a shared platform for the University system of Georgia. Now that's a
good thing, because that means greater consistency across the system and, over time, lower costs.
We've worked hard in HR alongside with our executives to make sure that this new, consolidated
platform has the same quality of plan design that you've had in the past.
This year, there a couple of really important things that each of us needs to pay attention
to. First, every one of us needs to either elect or waive every benefit option. That's
a change from the past. Second, open enrollment is a two week period this year. Open enrollment
will begin on November 11 and conclude on Friday, November 22.
Now there are a variety of resources that are available to you online and a new telephone
helpline staffed by our people in HR. Our goal is to make sure that anyone who calls
gets an answer from a live person. You might not be able to get your question answered
immediately, but someone will be able to take a message and get it directed to the appropriate
expert to get answered. Please don't wait, open enrollment is a two week period, and
you need to start now to consider the various options, the changes in the plans, and the
choices that you want to make. If the HR team or I can be of help to you, please don't hesitate
to call or write. Thanks, and have a great Open Enrollment.
