- This is London 2012: The Official Videogame of the Olympic Games
... the first 8th generation of olympic games I've ever played
- I was so curious how this game would be like
and as soon as I watched the opening ceremony, I was as awed
as in the real life featuring Mr. Bean presentation
the show celebrating the internet generation
and the torch being ignited...
well I wonder if O.B.S. would block those TV footages on my video
after the ending of the games.
Otherwise, I'd post only photos.
- Going back to the game...
London 2012 presents the most diversified events ever...
but before let's review he excellent customization system
it's got: for every events, you're able to customize your own athlete
- Inclusively, changing his name.
- There are over 2 dozens of available countries to pick up
- Each day of the game you select 2 spots you wanna play
which I think ridiculous: what olympic games are there only 2 sports?
- During the morning is qualification round while in the afternoon
are the finals in case of being qualified.
- The upside of the gameplay is, unlike 90's olympic videogames
you don't need to smash 2 buttons mercilessly any longer
and yet some timing, which make your hands less exhausted.
- Besides, tutorial moe is available so that you'll know
how to play it.
- Believe or not, up to 1990's, if you hadn't had a manual instruction
you should have guessed the buttons to be pressed.
- On the other hand, nowadays, if you didn't have a XBox 360 controller
you'd think controlls are quite confusing.
- The events are splitted into eight categories: Track which is made of
events as sprint 200m, 110m hurdles, resistents ones as sprint 400m
which demands a perfect stamina timing or you'll be run down at the end
and the most famous one: sprint 100m, which
Usain Bolt was praised over the crowd
- Even on the game, every details might cost the final result
- Field is composed by long jump, triple jump, javelin, disc shot
high jump and etc.
- Smimming is composed by 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke
and the most expected and popular: 50m freestlyle that
a french athlete was the winner against many favorites
- Diving is composed by plataform events.
One of the hardest to be domained cause demands perfect timing
when pressing buttons
- Shooting is composed by pistol and skeet modalities.
- Archery is basically.. Archery and there are two gymnastic events
trampoline and vault
- Those are hard to be mastered too.
- And just to finish, Other Sports category are composed by kayak
scrulls, weight lifting and two team events: table tennis and beach volley.
- The latter ones the funniest event to be played
- Events that demands focus and coordination
- Unfortunately, qualify rounds are quite short
just a semifinal, final or 3rd place match.
that means, at least you're already 4th!
- Another point: Despite of having many events to be played
it's still unbelievable the most important event is missing!
- Marathon!
- The space on a blu-ray disc is more than available
to include this game even if it wouldn't be 2 hours lenght as real life
and more, others team sports are also missing as volleyball, soccer, tennis
- All those suggestions are possible in a blu-ray disk
however, as a multiplataform game, it should be limited by
PC and Xbox 360 dual layer DVD disks
- As I told at the beginning, graphics are charming
- By the way, there isn't any limitation on PC as it's got on consoles
- Some events intro as kayak and scrulls were spetacular
- You might see some details as some dimples on the face
- PC gamers are right to claim that PC graphics are much better
than in a console, depending on how good your machine is
- Sound effects are great
composed by commentators as seen on TV.
- Every events it's told some curiosity or details of the sport.
- Whoever fluent in british english will admire
- Nothing more exciting than earning a medal being on a podium
listening to the national anthem
- As on medium difficult it was tricky to get, let's listen to a random anthem
- Besides the main mode you can play events individually on Events Play
or playing with real friends making some specific tasks on Party Play
that only can be done with more than a player
- And Online Mode... but you know, as I downloaded by torrent
I can't play online mainly because I don't feel like paying 45 USD
to clear up my curiosity how a recent olympic videogame would be
and it's a short-term game: which means, you won't play it after some months
- And if you still want to me playing online, there is enough time to donate!
