>>Wade: Hi, I'm Wade Wingler with the INDATA Project at Easter Seals Crossroads in Indiana.
You know we do a lot of things here at the INDATA Project and one of the things is, we
keep technology out of the landfills and into the hands of people who really need it. So
we're going to spend a little time getting under the hood and into the nuts and bolts
a little bit of what we call the INDATA Depot, how folks access it what we do and how that's
a useful thing. So we're going to actually across the street to the INDATA Depot and
talk about assistive technology reutilization. >>Anne: Hi, welcome to the INDATA Depot, this
is the facilty where we store all of the items that have been donated for our reutilization
program. I'm actually standing in front of the computers right now that have been sanitzed,
wiped clean of all their data and updated with Windows 7 and they're actually ready
to be shipped out back into the community and to residents in the state of Indiana who
have a documented disability. Thank you so much for considering donating to our program,
right now we're really, really, really looking for laptops and computers that are no older
than five years old. If you feel that you can donate a computer that fits those requirements,
feel free to drop it off at Crossroads between the hours of 8 and 4, Monday through Friday,
but if you can't do that on your own, feel free to call and we'll schedule a pickup for
you and also these are tax deductible so get a receipt from the receptionist when you drop
your item off. So the other side of our INDATA reutilization program is taking in assistive
technology, such as wheelchairs, canes and walkers. But right now, what we really need
are walkers that have four wheels, just like this one and CCTVs which we have on this wall
over here, we also need bathtub chairs as well. Now, for some of the big ticket items
like hospital beds, we actually don't have room for those here. But if you have something
like that, that you want to donate, feel free to check out our website and we have kind
of a classified section where you can list and browse for free, you can buy, sell, trade
anything you want to get rid of or are looking to purchase. Now that we've talked about how
to donate equipment, if you're in need of equipment like a computer or a wheelchair,
visit www.eastersealstech.com, download an application and just send it back to us with
a documentation of your disability. >>Wade: So we're really excited, when we can
take an old piece of assistive technology, give it new life and give it to someone who
really needs it. So, that's your tech tip for this week. I'm Wade Wingler with the INDATA
Project at Easter Seals Crossroads in Indiana.
