My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner
and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect
wedding. A lot of brides and grooms today want to do something different, they just
don't want to do what they've seen, they don't want to do what their friends or their relatives
have done and they want to do what's called an "Off Beat Wedding". Generally speaking,
that requires finding a space that their friends and family have not been to before, it requires
decorating in a different manner than traditional flowers and being there so much stuff on the
market today, one can find very unusual props and very unusual growing natural things to
make an off beat wedding. But first and foremost, is to choose the space. Then, one can also
do very different kinds of music. We have used Steel Bands, Rastafarian Bands, all different
kinds of music that might not be what's considered interest and it wouldn't be top forty's, it's
just different styles of music which brings a smile to your face and makes you want to
party. The same with food, there are lots of way of *** food today and the bride and
groom can pick all their favorites not service heated meal, and every part of the food, whether
it's the cocktails, the dinner, the desert can be represented as the bride and groom's
likes and they can just be a mix and match from all different walks of life. It doesn't
have to be one genre, doesn't have to be one ethnicity. So you can have a really, really
good time making an off beat wedding.
