Welcome to Epi Info 7 training.
In this video you'll learn to import an Excel spreadsheet into Epi Info 7
using the visual dashboard.
Before getting started, first make sure that the first row in your Excel
spreadsheet contains field names.
If your spreadsheet contains any headers and titles above the field names, remove
them and save the spreadsheet with a new name.
Look at my spreadsheet and you'll see the first row contains the field names.
Now let's get started by clicking Visual Dashboard here on the main page. In
Visual Dashboard you have three ways to read data into Epi Info 7.
First is to click Set Data Source here at the top of the page,
second is to click Set a data source now here in the blue box in the middle of
the page,
and third is to right-click on the canvas
and click Set data source here.
Now
I can choose the workbook style,
I can browse to find my file,
and click OK.
Once the file name appears, highlight it and click OK.
And if you'll notice at the top of the page you'll see the name of that data
and the record number and I'm ready for analysis.
I'll right-click on the dashboard
and I'll navigate to Add analysis gadget
and click frequency.
The frequency will be gender
and here's the data.
To remove the frequency properties box simply click the purple icon and now I
can read all the data.
The next time you access visual dashboard and want to read the same
data file, you can simply select the name of the file from the Recent Data Sources
option that's available after clicking on Set Data Source from any of the three
places you started from.
