Today is race relations day and it’s a very important day for Aotearoa New Zealand. It’s
a commemoration of the Sharpeville shootings in 1960 in South Africa but it’s also a
day for us to think about our vision for New Zealand. Well my vision for New Zealand is
a New Zealand with 170 different ethnicities, can all work together, live together, be part
of the same community as well as to acknowledge each other’s different backgrounds but also
what binds us together. We live in the best little country in the world with a record
of race relations that any other country would be very proud of and we should jealously guard
this reputation. Look after each other, be part of New Zealand, we’re all kiwis.
