with every passing day conflict between ukraine russia seems more and more
likely just a few days ago
we estimated the number I russian troops massing along the border with Ukraine to
be around 20,000
25,000 for including soldiers in Crimea already it looks like that number was
that
not behind a because it looks like it's actually more like 50,000
some people been saying 100000 but looks like that is not the case but regardless
of the numbers
a senior US officials are saying it's not the number that matters most they
have enough to move in now
regardless and the REC opposition to be dangerous what matters is the intent
and we don't have a clear sense if that they have in place the capability
capacity in readiness they would need should they choose to conduct further
aggression
and in response to that President Barack Obama has
but some given words of warning I guess to Russia
saying to de-escalate the situation Russia should move back those troops and
begin negotiations directly with the Ukrainian government
as well as the International community here's some other stuff that he has to
say about
putting directly but I I don't know exactly what is backing up
I guess the threat you better do that or else what I don't know at this point and
but 50,000 a lot for military exercises yes
so excuse the russians been giving alluding to right
but normally of course I like negotiations
you know the whole *** cheney we don't talk to you a lot says is dumb thing
ever in my life
and II back she sported a decent amount of President Obama's foreign policy
obviously not the drone strikes
but Libya up to a lot about the liberals should brain
I thought Syria you know he threatened but the neighbor
ultimately the right thing et cetera I they'll talk in negotiations when you
get 50,000
a guys at the at the border it's true of course you should do negotiations but it
seem like it kinda weak response
now that there's a strong words were going to do like okay are you I will put
their 50,000 American troops other
you get when I go do that right I don't know but it sounded weak to me
and I'm now being to believe that Putin is starting to think that you do
whatever the hell he wants
and I'm like I would've thought he is like a Korean to ukraine that's crazy I
K crimea
maybe another Russian enclave in another country but to go further in the ukraine
sounds like madness
if he goes further in the ukraine that's it we've got up master
historic issue on our you have a map late where is
where these troops amassed in relation to
crimea only northeaster cry me along the eastern border
ukraine so there's a there's a so you forgive my ignorance but I'm sure it
shared
I'm so russia's border with the ukraine is much broader than
just crimea if of course in fact we were further referring to
do present Obama is to russian troops that are legitimately inside russia any
so so that I get that and that's not a problem that's not our business right
so he's referring to the troops that are inside russia now it's a crime you cuz
we doing knowledge crimea as russian territory
so if I was on rum so I'd say oh well their little
the to the east west north to south aggrecan but better there
they're amassing troops on the border to go into non Crimea Ukraine
yes that's right thank the Lord or not to go and put yet had so we gave me a
little bit early information about what sort of that
I guess that the basic strength above the ukraine military and the the russian
military
so you've gotten around 50,000 troops than 5,000 russian troops in Crimea
the the Ukraine has a about 280,000
active service members but they only have 6,000
that have all the equipment they need to fight is there a
6,000 that then another number yeah that's that's not what are the other
items as
74,000 have for not
like double stuffed toy like polish army stuff not poor George W figure okay
rex is basically couldn't control the Ukrainian military now indirectly at
least for the last twenty years
so he's put all the officers in charge of everything so not only
do you have to worry okay the hundred thousand don't have the equipment but
how many those hundred thousand
are actually loyal to the ukraine at all and how many are there to just
up stuff up let me unless this question because as we talk about this in the
morning meeting John
if you're from russia's pointed you in this is from a way to look at it where
this is
reasonable given the current situation on the ground
if you're Russia and you've just taking what you are claiming to be
yours by birthright and sort of just a mistake I've weird foreign policy and
you give up crime in the first place
you retaking crimea ukraine object to that obviously
their militarized so what you would do is be like okay and just so you know
here's our giant show strike to let you know we took crimea
nor keep in Crimea and there's no discussing this and there's no fighting
about this
all that just about crimea did a call that's the question
no no no need didn't bring look personal the guy's a
KGB spy master that too is so he's looking at the world through
geopolitical prism and its gonna start with the Crimea in the new gonna go to
trends in yester
I there's a very good chance I mean look is all 28 goals to break apart the
western alliance
the surest way to do that is to begin messing with
estonia you've got to know what 23rd general population there's russian
there a NATO member the russians they're actually discriminated against
a by the government so he's got more the case to go in there the needed
initially in Crimea and is America going to fight for Stony a
and if America doesn't Piper stony and that's it for nato
so that gets the tomb more most important questions and West's our
military experts is a good day to have Mon
but never one what's yours I guess here is he is at a show strength
or does he intend to go across the border into Ukraine
my guess is he's got across the border to Ukraine she's
because he's pre-positioned a fuel and supplies in
he's got this window before the next group with drafting troops come and I
think in a couple months where
you know I guess the russians they are year so their best rain guys they're
ready right now
another six months they won't be the vestry guys any pulled out
kinda the unit in moscow the Georgia making sure that
you know the huddled masses don't rise up against them that unit's been
deployed at a Moscow to the Ukrainian border
if he goes in Estonia which I'm I agree with you I'm most worried about that
he has a decent case to make like it was before you and crimea people like this
crazy of course others
the minute he would any crime April ago a crime is Russian some big deal right
and in Estonia there is an enclave that is mainly rock
Russian at may can discriminate upon it's a perfect place for a good day
let's let's be realistic about why these groups about migration discriminated
against because
in the mid to late nineteen forties the to call the native inhabitants
in a *** the mall and they were placed in with the russians in strategic
places where if these countries are became independent
they would never be independent right you know
there's they have good reason to be agreed with the Russians historically
so at the same question is if they go cross the border into estonia
do you think nato says oh hell no merits a NATO country just crossed the Red Line
that's it or we are engaged the battle is joined
I or do we say that but it's a story a all
you have to you gotta buy personally if you don't that's it
and then piece by piece you'll see your occurred every other than every other
every other secondary or tertiary
member of nato it's like well this was this because of his job
this was this was a joke right right no yeah I agree so
thats if he goes further in the ukraine I already think
were at Mike 0 this guy's setting up an empire were gonna have to grab pronto
okay you're gonna have to confront him eventually I look people come out
against by
no you don't think there's all kinds a diplomatic stuff you can do on the
sideline but having those phone calls
didn't you say you say that the phone calls can do a lot i mean okay
cuz the Kosovo situation gets brought up in this a lot
the reason that we got the outcome we didn't go so well was because we made a
phone call
to the Ukraine and Poland to block russian troop transport
coming to their space redone eighty-some odd days bombing
just to give it to the russians President Obama kinda echoed a lot of
what you were saying he says that there's a strong sense a russian
nationalism
and a sense that somehow the West is taking advantage in Russian the past
and that he meaning prune wants to in some fashion reverse that our make up
for that I gotta say he'd let me get on the Russian thing a little bit cuz I i
grew up in the cold war in Germany
I was in the service and the fundamental difference between us the russians is
not worth the loss fear anything else
it comes around the in the world war two because the russians are the kind of
people
who roundup group and they put them in camps
and they kill men women and children it's called room to branch
you kill all your threats growing up in Germany that time we were told us kids
if former happens when you we gotta get everyone's gotta get the Francis quickly
as they can because
the russians had orders to round up all the families and kill the wives and the
children
you know all do that cold war propaganda wanda was headed nato and
they open up the stars about that was exactly the plan
because they do it over and over and over again
every thirty or forty or fifty years whichever country they're occupying
and to act like no no they're just insecure
okay great the russians are in security if you went to college in the
70's or 80's all you heard was the cold war's all america's fault cuz we're on
Sarah russian security
russian securities based on their brutality everybody that lives around
women although both countries are put up with
100 years have this thing look the whole reason that we
or even in the United States is because the russians decided
to trample all over the Jews in the nineteenth century in eastern europe
mean baby create these problems over and over and over again so if your poll
or your from the baltics Ukrainian you think
this is our chance let's get away from these people so couple quick things that
first
you know you might say well okay Wes less that's the files and that's all
school
they're not necessarily in modern-day except for the fact that as you pointed
out
couldn't was a que reach KGB spy master that's what the world
he grew up in but yes he's a KGB spy
but like not everybody there who is made
25 years where the cash often vaguely capitalist system and and and a
and opened up society is going to be delighted with the return
to that way like it pantry is ingrained
right up to so that's it right there and that's what's really interesting weather
the the interconnected OVR
OVR financial systems in our markets that phenomenon
has grown to such a point that it overwhelms
old imperialism and aggression is the question at hand
because okay in okay hold set it up so early care
socialists I hear ya man you can give that point in a second
so the idea is what can we do
right if he goes in Ukraine estonia Center other than military although if
you want to do so it would have to respond militarily but
about what we could do is just shut down all the trade and say that's it
you're done we don't him what your energy will buy
out more expensive energy from elsewhere for europe et cetera
and Joe's clamp down on I'm to the point where the Russian oligarchs
would be like wallow water beer what are you doing we just lost several billion
dollars
apiece right and so we can have this that's the consequences are
interconnected financial world
now is russia gonna stop with imperialism know he's gonna tested
you know because it's not just that he's former KGB
he already took a part of georgia he already took a portable ukraine
and historically guys who take that kinda lame don't settle I would
a good great access code two great piece aware that I didn't have been born
undone okay I don't want to get greedy but guys like that
are greedy by nature that's way to go in the first place he will do something
else and when he does
that the military will run into the hall ordinance homework
in his interests because the sanctions or going to hurt the other potential
levers of power in Russia which the billionaires
if you strip them of their money they're really not much of a threat
Europe has to buy the oil and gas anyway so
he can determine who gets the money off it round and somebody who set themselves
up by Jimmy Johns earlier
North America non-european sources have traded China and things like that yes
that's what china will be
crew to coincide with China gonna be on in fact
in the Crimea incursion china abstained in the vote in the United Nations
Security Council and that's really important as China normally backs Russia
in those boats the reason they abstained is that they didn't like the idea
0 someone coming in and saying well thats ethnically XY or Z
soldiers take it again China holds a lot of territory that's
ethnically XY or Z and they don't want people coming into their country also
want territories that are filled with X 10 their own
so it could be a and if they have a huge economic interests of the United States
as well as rush obviously
so that's why we got it was that your china or you get it hits your ride
to Russia is that you hit it into a nation where the year average life
expectancy the man is like 50
that your population is shrinking in shrinking in shrinking
every year because mainly alcoholism I mean
your goal is all this is all super interesting but John what is the latest
with the plane
I
