IABC is an education. I have learned more at IABC than I ever learned at a college course.
I'm a graphic designer, but I can speak intelligently about crisis communication and change management
and diversity, and be able to understand my clients -- all because of IABC.
I've been a member for more than 26 years. I knew I wanted to be an IABC member from
my first meeting. I immediately felt at home. I knew that was where I needed to be. I was
referred to IABC by a fellow communicator. On that first meeting, I met my first and
best client, and that company is still a client of mine today.
You get something from IABC that you don't get in any other organization. You attend
a few IABC meetings and start getting to know IABC people and you quickly realize that it's
a two-way street, and you really want to give back. As much as I've given to IABC, I've
gotten back so much more over the years -- well worth my membership dues.
