Why do bodybuilders eat a lot of chicken?
It is one of the cheapest sources of protein around, while being a low fat source.
I hear a lot of jokes about how everything tastes like chicken, which is like nothing
at all.
Chicken is popular not only because of its price but its versatility. Grill it, bake
it, stir-fry it or steam it, cook it any way you like.
You can eat any part of it, ***, wings, guts.
No one eats chicken liver unless they are starving, unless you are a cat. Body builders
eat a lot of chicken ***, but they try to stay away from the wings.
Why avoid wings?
Go past the Wing Stop and smell the rich aroma of cooking oil. The wings have little meat
and are steeped in fatty cooking oil.
Ah, high fat and low protein, the opposite of what body builders want.
And the *** are almost pure muscle, and you can trim away what fat is on it.
They say you are what you eat. When it comes to chicken, it seems like body builders are
living up to that truism.
Lean meat is typically muscle, so yeah, it is true.
At least chicken is hard to get high fat.
Cheap chicken breast is ensconced in fat and skin, so yeah, you can. But at least it is
visually easy to see and correct, unlike trying to remove the fatty marble from a steak.
I’ve heard guys say they eat a lot of chicken because it is easy to get pre-cooked chicken
medallions. Then they spend more time in the gym instead of the kitchen.
Pre-cooked chicken is more expensive, but as with everything, you pay for convenience.
It’s the one convenience food body builders allow themselves.
No, protein bars and shakes win that competition.
