Measuring for a fabric valances is easy, in this short video you will see just how simple
it is. Valances can provide the final touch to the décor of any room by giving each window
a finished custom look. Fabric valances allow you to maintain your view while adding a decorative
flair to your window. They can be used on their own or as the perfect finishing complement
to your existing blinds or shades. Begin by measuring the inside of your window opening.
Add 4” to the left side of your measurement. And 4” to the right, this is your valance
width, and is the width for the fabric of your valance. If your valance will have finials
add an additional 6” to each side of your measurement, this will be your “total valance
rod length”. For box pleat valance installation only, your valance rod will come with a standard
2” projection. If the blind or shade you are covering is mounted above your window
opening and protrudes into the room, measure for the extra return depth to be added to
your fabric. Choose the measured depth to add extra side fabric for your valance from
the corner of the rod back to the wall. And that’s it! If you still have any questions
just give us a call, it’s that easy.
