In this clip, we're going to talk about some head gestures that are used in Odissi dance.
Samam, Udhbahitham, Adho Mukham, Alokitam. Dhutam, Kampitham Ch, Paravritham. Ukshiptham,
Parivahitham. Head gestures are very significant when you start telling a story. And the head
needs to follow and co-ordinate with the hand gestures and other body movements. So head
gestures are something that I teach during the steps class. Where as you start learning
to co-ordinate the body with the hands. You also learn to co-ordinate the head movements
with the hands and the arms and the shoulder movements. So that is the role that the head
gestures play in Odissi dance.
